I think Infineon Technologies is practicing green marketing to a large extent.

The marketing efforts carried out by Infineon consist of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in six areas which are Environmental Sustainability, Occupational Safety and Health, Business Ethics, Corporate Citizenship, CSR Supply Chain Management and Human Rights.
Based on Infineon’s official webpage, it indicates that its marketing effort for Infineon Integrated Management Program for Environment, Energy, Safety, and Health (IMPRES) is being certified with International Organization for Standardization (ISO)14001, which implies that Infineon follows an effective environmental management system in its operations1. …show more content…

Thus, I feel that Infineon’s marketing effort can be consider green to a certain extent as they have met the effective environmental management system standards set by international organisations.
Arguments and supports to whether marketing efforts are green
However, ISO14001 may not be an accurate and complete indicator to support if Infineon’s marketing efforts are green. Based on a report from Green Lean Solutions Ltd3, it mention ISO14001 lacks transparency as companies are not requires to release any information regarding their organisation’s environmental impact to public. Thus, this means that the certification does not give an accurate and complete picture of Infineon marketing efforts because if they results in negative environmental impact, the public will not know.
Moreover, ISO14001 follows a general guidelines that can be adopted by all organisations4 such as steel fabrics companies5. If we compare this industry with Infineon, a semiconductor manufacturer, these two companies are different have varying operations. Analysis if Infineon Technologies’s marketing efforts are green
This marketing effort can be consider green because RoHs Directive regulates the use of hazardous substances such as lead, mercury and polybrominated biphenyls in electronic end products to reduce consumer toxic electronics waste (e-waste) and are only given to companies whom complies with the strict standards7.
Based on what I learnt from the course on e-waste, I think that Infineon’s marketing effort is green RoHs Directive is an accurate and complete indictor because with RoHs certified products, it indicates that their products are safe to consumers which helps to improve the health benefit especially related to cancer health problems in electronics industry workers8.
