That is why English is important to taught at the early ages, because English becomes the important communication tool. According to Graddol (2006) states that using of English have taught from several decades and became international Language in the world. In Indonesia, English as the first foreign language have taught as a formal language in the school. But, now English still can not be mastered by Senior High School alumni. So, many people ask why Senior High School alumni can not communicate in English fluently, clearly and correctly.

It is more than that; it takes the students´ abilities in enhancing their lexicon, their management in syntax, and their perspective about words´ influences in people. Thus, summing this up, it is indispensable that ESL students have a grand deal about linguistic knowledge. In other words, ESL learners not only require speaking, but also reading, writing and thinking in English when they complete whatever English career. For most of the ESL institutes and Universities in Panama, which bid English as a second language, this is their main goal, developing critical thinking in their students who can express it through either orally or written English language.
This paper reports a study of the language needs of the Professional students. In particular, the study seeks to examine the significant differences if any in the performance of the students in vocabulary, grammar, cohesion and organization components in English due to variation in Medium of Instruction at Intermediate. Findings of the study also shed light on the specific set of competencies for teachers of English at Engineering colleges in the state of Andhra Pradesh and informs the strategies for the development of writing skills components of the students. Since it is the language widely used in science, medicine, law, film industry, internet, research, business and also as an official language in many countries, it has been accepted as a global language throughout the world. As such English has become a need for everyone and has been introduced in many countries as a second language in education. Here comes the role of English teacher who is not only supposed to introduce English as a language to the students but make the non-native speakers communicate in English fluently. In the present day scenario, in teaching-learning process, most of us use bilingual, direct, indirect or teacher-centred methods, where teacher’s exposure towards language is more rather than the learner.
The same thing happens in Indonesia. English had always been one of the charges required in the structure of the lessons in this country. In fact English is one of subject in the national exam. This is different from other foreign languages such as Japanese, German, French, Russian or even Korea which recently has begun to bloom responded by Indonesian students. The problem then arises; from the aspect of science is there any method or maybe media that can facilitate students in learning English, especially writing skill in English.
CHAPTER 1 1.1 Introduction English language is basically known as the international language used both globally and locally (McKay SL, 2009). English is spoken and used as the second language or L2 in Malaysia. Besides that, Malaysia is one of the Asian countries which is adopting bilingual system in its education line (Darmi & Albion, 2013). The English language has been playing an important part for decades in various fields, especially in education. Understanding the significance of the English language, the government has started executing new educational modules to support the English language learning as a method for pushing the young learners towards a more prepared generation to rival the worldwide community.

1.0 INTRODUCTION The teaching of English in Malaysia were introduced by the British Colonial in 1960 and still entrenched in current Malaysian Educational System (Asmah Hj. Omar, 1992). In present, English is the most important foreign language in Malaysia and use widely in many aspects in life, ranging from business transactions, production of products and advertisements. In order to hold this status, English language is taught as a second language in all Malaysian schools and a compulsory subject in both primary and secondary schools. In higher level of education such as university, local undergraduates are required to register a stipulated credit hour of English courses based on the result of their Malaysian University English Test (MUET), which is an English proficiency assessment course and a compulsory requirement for students who plan to pursue tertiary education at Malaysian universities (Malaysian Examination Council, 2006).
Language is one of the very important tools that are used by the people to communicate with one person to the others. Language is also used to express the people thoughts, emotions, and to fulfill some purposes as well as to maintain the culture. From that usefulness, it means that language has an important role in human life. Nowadays, in 21 century, the people are not enough only know his/her mother language because now a lot of technologies develop all over the world, study exchange also happen all over the world in which the common language that is used is English. In Indonesia’s education, English become a crucial subject lesson.
Whereas (Graddol, 2010) quoted that, “The place of English in India cannot be understood without simultaneously understanding both the local detail and the bigger national picture”. On the contrary English language has emerged as a global language, there are various countries emphasising on teaching English language as basic skill to the youth to prepare them for the civil society of twenty first century. English is considered as lingua franca and provides many advantages to its speakers. As per Graddol (2010), there are three main drivers of English in India, a) Education, b) Employment, and c) Social mobility. All three are interlinked and inter-dependent.
