Nowadays, technology is heavily used for educational purposes. Integrating technology in education can be extremely beneficial. It can be a useful method for the students and their teachers, which improves both their skills. In addition, being active on the Internet when learning can make students and teachers’ academic journey easier. There is a lot of evidence that proves how useful technology is for both students and their instructors.
This allows a teacher that is willing to use some new approach to keep student engagement high because of the new and different ways they are challenging the student. Keeping students engaged in a classroom learning with technology is a great tool for education and educators to help make learning more fun for students. If you make learning more fun for students, then they will take a greater investment in it and might be able to take the learning into their own hands, which should be the greatest goal in
The flexible teaching learning strategies provide high quality education and ensure equity in educational opportunities. 5. The large population of the school subjects such as mathematics, science, social science, and communication are rapidly relay on media for their teaching and learning. 6. Thus the media enhance the teaching-learning effectiveness by utilizing various media like printed material, radio, video, television, internet, e-learning, and
Internet is an effective tool to promote learning in an unconventional way (Reiser, 2001). While developing assessment instruments, instructors can include online practice tests. Online tests provide reports with data regarding specific skills to inform instruction. Students will benefit from an automatic scoring. Therefore, time is saved and grading is made easier.
Since it is very accessible, the students are given the tools to access the course materials anytime, anywhere. They could also reinforce their materials by browsing certain websites given by their teachers. It will also improve the communication between the learners and lecturers. The mere fact that it is online, it can provide many communication tools such as news, emails, instant messaging, online discussions and the like. It will lessen communication gap and improves their communication skills in terms of the use of
Moreover, technology allows students to see the whole world as a resource with themselves being in charge of their destiny. It also benefits students because they have choices and opportunities to explore and share information to a greater extent than available in a traditional classroom. Educators, in my opinion, should be racing to utilize programs that retain children's attention and reinforce methods and concepts taught in class. International competitors are excelling in the areas of math and science by using computers efficiently. Therefore, it is essential that our children are taught how to use and learn from computers in order to produce a society that is up to par with nations
THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING Introduction The use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is becoming an essential part of education. The integration of ICT in both the teaching and learning processes is one of the most viable solutions towards educational reform. Teacher’s capability in the utilization of modern technology plays a vital role in teaching and learning processes. The modern media technology when utilized in the classroom has of significant effect to the achievement of the desired students learning competencies (Bingcang, 2015). In addition, research shows that adopting and using ICT in schools leads to significant expansion of education and pedagogical outcome which are beneficial to both teachers and students.
These changes are often sociocultural; for example it would be easier for shy students to attend online classes than participating in their own classrooms (Petrie and Avery 11). 3. Application of Technology in EFL/ESL Classes Some ESL/EFL Teachers are familiar with and knowledgeable about relevant language technologies, therefore they are willing to consider incorporating them into instruction. Others do not recognize that there are endless choices that they can make in using technology in class, and that these instructional choices have a significant impact on the success or failure of a language learning lesson (Petrie and Avery 13). Technology has to be implemented in the classroom in order to enhance students’ critical thinking and their literacy skills.
They argue that “technology can be an important tool that can have a major positive impact on language learning” (p. 43). They also stress the use of the Internet as a key part of this impact, with its usage able to improve critical thinking skills of students, their ability to search and synthesize information and also the skill of developing their language skills through the constant use of English. The use of the Internet should be seen as a valuable tool, mainly because of the dominant use of the English language for most of the Websites online, as well as the capability of translating text to help them understand English. Their study does provide warnings for teachers though. It notes that Internet access can be an important function in the ESL classroom, but it is important to “keep track of which students are using the computers”, as well as to keep an eye on the content that they are viewing because there are many distractions online (p. 43).
But at the same time it has become more of a fashion statement to have computers or multimedia in schools, the result being that in spite of its potential to make learning meaningful and liberating, its implementation is often not more than cosmetic. Now it is also often touted as a panacea for shortage of teachers. These are detrimental to the learning of the child. Education needs to orient and sensitize the teacher to distinguish between critically useful and the detrimental use of ICT(NCFTE, 2009). In a way, ICT can be imaginatively drawn upon for professional development and academic support of teachers.
