Equal pay is something women have fought over for a long time, but still haven’t got it. Just because women have only a little less experience as they have to take care of children doesn’t mean they shouldn’t get the same salary. Equal pay is favorable since it boosts the economy, makes the company look better, and helps everyone. Why would equal pay boost the economy, though? Foremost of all, women spend a sizable portion of their income, which leads to higher demand.
They can do the same jobs as their male counterparts and their value in the work field still exists as inferior. Although companies will try to justify the pay difference, very often, they do not have valid reasoning why the males receive higher pay. Although these women encounter inequalities at all levels, it’s not simply an inequality, but a glass ceiling effect as a result of the distribution of women at the top being smaller and the inequality increases as the women go up the rung of the job market

This is one reason why women deserve equal pay because the prices of products that women have to pay are higher and due to the low wages a lot of women are not able to buy the products like deodorant or other things which denies women their right to obtain and have basic needs met for survival. Also many women have domestic responsibilities like providing for their children and this can be especially hard for single moms even prices for baby items are priced higher because they are targeted towards women buying them for their children although men can buy them their kids as well the marketing is directed toward women buying them more than men. Women that even receive higher education than men in their field face a lower salary.
Why Are Women Paid Less? —— It Is Not an Issue Only About Discrimination That Simple According to a survey by North American Industry System(NAICS), based on average wages, all workers in 2014 including full-time and part-time, women earned just 75.3% compared to men. As more and more women enter the labor market, this issue is increasingly attached great importance, and whether this issue relates to discrimination is the biggest concern. Some argue that women in America earn only 77% of what men do, dubbed the “wage gap”. This notion, however, is fallacious and stems from a hasty generalization. In America, women earn the same as men, as guaranteed by The Equal Pay Act of 1963, which bars employers from paying women or men less than their counterparts. The gender wage gap fails to realize traditional differences in the distribution of jobs between the sexes, but rather takes earnings in aggregate. There are two things wrong with this line of reasoning: areas of higher earning are traditionally majority men, and women tend to take time off to care for children, impacting earnings.
African American women will wait until the year 2124 merely because the color of their skin is different from others. The worst wait is for Hispanic women; equality in pay will not come to them until 2233 (“Pay”). An analysis by Oxfam Canada and the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives explains the influence of different factors on the gender wage gap by saying that the gender wage gap is not merely because the stereotypical woman works less than men or because women have a different degree of education or experience. The analysis states that “Even when all of these factors are considered, the result remains the same: a wage gap” (Grant). Mike Honda once said, “Equal pay isn’t just a women’s issue; when women get equal pay, their family incomes rise and the whole family benefits.” Honda is making it clear that when women receive a lower pay than their male counterparts, it is not only the exploitation towards women, but a disadvantage to their household. It is common for industries to have a women’s salary be less than that of her equal male colleague. However, with unequal pay being an issue for many years, and the increase of violence in the United States, will this issue ever be truly solved? While in fact, the wage gap increases as the level of education increases. A woman’s bachelor degree earns only 71.4 % of a man’s salary, and a woman’s graduate degree is worth even less and earns 69% of men with graduate degrees salaries. While in today’s world, students are strongly encouraged to pursue higher degrees to earn more, but for women this is disheartening seeing that the extra effort of pursuing a higher education being unmatched for their efforts. This is the 21st century and America is the land of opportunity, it is pure common sense that hard-working people should receive equal rewards for their efforts. Equal pay has been a concern for over the past 50 years, when all hardworking Americans deserve fair salaries.
In the 1900’s women were restricted by laws that impaired gender equality. For more than half of the historical backdrop of America, women were not given the right to vote. They did not have any voice. As a result, women could not help make gains in society and law. On the other hand, women today are as active as men in electorical activities and generally have a higher turnout rate when voting in elections.

There have been many improvements in women 's wages but men are more likely to get raises or have a larger salary because of their sex. As well as it is more common for a man to get a higher position in a private sector then a woman. “I assume people know that discrimination is alive and well in our culture, but clearly that’s not the case. It’s not like I’m making these facts up or that this research is biased; the hard truth is that gender equality has not been achieved in our society” (Sinn 7). People claim that discrimination in our country no longer exist between race and gender.
So if the government knows about these wage gaps why aren’t they doing something? So many people have had issues with this wage gap, people with different colored skin to what gender they are. There are women who will get paid 75% of what men get paid just because of their jobs or because people think that they should get paid less because they get stuck with the housework or they are taking care of the elders. To me that is ridiculous, women and men shouldn’t be getting paid the way people see them. Most people think that men have harder jobs and women get the easier jobs but, that isn’t always true.
