The morning of Tuesday September 11, 2011 is one of the biggest tradgies of all time. On this specific day four airlines were hijacked by an Islamic group that goes by the name al-Qaeda. The attacks took the lives of 2,996 innocent people, injured nearly 6,000 people, and caused at least $10 billion in infracture and property damage. These attacks, also known as the 9/11 attacks, will forever be remebered as one of the most horrific days for so many people around this world. Initally, al-Qaeda considered targeting nuclear power plants on 9/11, but decided to go against it because they feared it would get too out of control.
Using President Ronald Reagan words, Cruz said his strategy “should be very simple -- to defeat radical Islam – We win, they lose.” He noted that the recent shooting occurred within weeks after the terrorist attacks in Paris. “This horrific murder underscores that we are at a time of war,” Cruz said. “Whether or not President Obama or the current administration is willing to acknowledge it, our enemies are at war with us.” Cruz vowed when elected as President that he will “rip to shreds the catastrophic Iranian nuclear deal.” “The U.S. needs a leader who will say to Iran, either you will stop your nuclear program, or we will stop it for you,” Cruz said. He also pledged to move the American embassy to Jerusalem and cut off federal funding from universities that support boycotting Israeli products. Cruz described how this administration justifies the recent terror attacks describing how Secretary of State John Kerry called the Charlie Hebdo attacks earlier this year as
January 31, 1968 Dear Diary, I’m writing to you because I just got the word that 19 Vietcong guerillas attacked South Vietnam’s embassy. As the President of the United States, I am very concerned about South Vietnam and all the Americans there at this time. Additionally, I am worried about how this will be portrayed to the Americans on the homefront through the media. I understand that South Vietnam and the Vietcong were in a “cease-fire” or a time where both sides agree to stop the fighting for a little while. I have been told that the Vietcong had hidden weapons throughout Saigon and attacked the second night of Tet, the Vietnamese New Year.
During the many years of the Cold War, the biggest fear was nuclear warfare between the US and Russia, then known as the USSR (“The Cold War…” 2). With the recent creation of nuclear bombs, no one knew the magnitude of the damage that would be caused, but everybody for sure feared it. The Cold War went on for many years beyond the 1960’s, and the amount of fear felt by millions remained. Modern warfare, compared to warfare in the 1960’s, has changed drastically. The modern war fought was the war in Iraq after 9/11.
The killing of the Al-Qaeda leader, which is a Radical Islamic Terrorist Group, founded in the 1980 's by Osama Bin Laden, was a huge justice in the U.S. and other countries. Bin Laden posed a global threat to the countries where Islam is not implemented, he was responsible for the September, 11th attacks back in 2001. He orchestrated it, and had it planned for months, he was planning more attacks on the U.S. after 9/11 as well. ("The World Trade Center History.") The terrorist group Al-Qaeda knew they couldn’t beat the U.S. in a straight up firefight, so they tried to destroy us through economic failure and imposing fear into American lives.
As the two planes hit the north and south tower in NY, a plane attempted to hit the Pentagon in DC, the result of the terrorists actions that day were that many families lost loved ones (9/11 Facts). The terrorists piloted the first plane into the North Tower of the World Trade Center at 8:46 A.M, the second plane struck the south South Tower 17 minutes later (9/11 facts). More than 400 police officers and
My opinion about the attack on ISIS is that it 's a good thing we did it because ISIS deserves it. If we just hold back ISIS will get to confident and that would become very bad for us, so I think we need to keep attacking them when available because if not they will keep attacking us and that is very bad. I think they are going to start attacking bigger places because they just attacked Paris and I know they aren 't going to wait destroying more knowing them. So basically Im saying we need to keep attacking them and if not they will get to confident and attack us, but if we attack them they will get scared and
World War II went on for six years and would destroy more land and property around the world and kill more people than any other war before. The war would unite countries around the world and cause many advances in technology and advances in battle tactics. It would also prove extremely costly for the entire world. World War II began on September 1, 1939 when Germany invaded poland which caused Britain and France to declare
It’s 3738 and the governments of all the countries are going crazy and it all started because of this organization and they go by the name of Black Jackets. This organization is the reason war broke out among the whole world. This organization was founded and created by the USA, Canada, United Kingdom, and France. They have made this alliance to stop Germany, Russia, China ,and Japan from destroying the whole world. Their plan was to bomb every country that wasn 't their own.
“Mankind must put an end to war, or war will put an end to mankind.” John Fitzgerald Kennedy articulated this idea at the United Nation General Assembly on September 25, 1961. In other words, Kennedy is saying that war can take total control over a man’s actions and perspective when faced with the supremacy on the battlefield, resulting in the destruction of mankind. This quote sums up the struggle of many soldiers when they’re faced with the uncertainty of battle. In the short story “The Sniper” by Liam O’Flaherty and the poem “The Man He Killed” by Thomas Hardy, the authors depict this concept that war is full of horror and suffering. War can change people and combat can turn friend against friend or brother against brother.
By this time, more than 33,771 Jews were killed. The Soviets started taking and retaking cities, launching a major counter-attack and caused Germany to abandon Moscow (The History Place, n.d.). Then one of the largest attacks on US soil was launched. The bombing of Pearl Harbor killed at least 2,000 people ( ). This event caused Britain and the United States to declare war on Japan, and Germany and Italy declared war on America.
America was furious and had the right to go to war. With power growing in Congress, “a group of young Democratic-Republicans known as War Hawks assumed a conspicuous and dominant role. The War Hawks urged immediate redress of American grievances against Great Britain by declaring war.” Everyone had agreed that due to their actions, America would go to war. Some of the most important battles in the war included the battle of Fort McHenry and New Orleans. Fort McHenry led to our National Anthem and a confidence booster for battles to come.
The United States had been in World War I, a conflict that threw the world into a series of conflict. The munitions that brought such destruction as the soldiers did themselves; in the United States. During this time production plants popped up everywhere across the U.S. in an attempt to meet the product demand of the war.Like many places around the world one small town was changed by the need for munitions. Morgan, New Jersey in that October of 1918 would feel the horrors being delivered overseas when a massive explosion rocked the central coastline, plunging it into a raging inferno. On Oct. 4, 1918, explosions rocked the T.A. Gillespie Company Shell Loading Plant in New Jersey, killing scores of people and destroying the largest munitions factory in the world.
World war one was given a couple of different nicknames but the one that is most known is “the war to end all wars”. There are a couple different reasons why they gave it that nickname. One of them being that the war was of mass destruction and resulted in lots of deaths. The united states tried to stay away from the war but later on had to join forces with the allied nations. That was because the United states were against the use of submarine warfare used by Germany That ment that all the ships would be attacked by Germanys navy.
