People should be able to own “assault style” weapons because most people use them responsibly, they are strictly regulated by the government, and people often misuse the word assault rife.

People often misuse the word assault rifle when when they are talking about guns civilians have. According to Merriam Webster dictionary, an assault rifle is “any of various automatic or semiautomatic rifles with large capacity magazines designed for military use.”
The most important part of that definition is that they are used in the military. The only assault rifles that are legal to own are ones that are registered between 1934 and 1986.

Out of the 318.9 million people that are in the United States, there are 300 million guns. Out of the 300 million guns that are in the U.S.(3), in the last Eighty years only 2 people are murdered with a legal version an assault rifle(1). the reason that the number is not higher is because of the regulations. first thing is someone have to get a background check. then they have to get a ATF(Alcohol,Tobacco, Firearms) license witch again involves a background check. Then they need to pay two hundred dollars as an ATF tax. and finally they need to select a licensed gun dealer that in the case of their unexpected death the gun dealer can have the gun. Then if

there is about 61,562 gun collectors in the united states and a lot of them own a legal assault rifle that they take care of and cherish. they would never hurt anyone with it and almost never let anyone but them shoot it. so according to the news this is your newest criminal and mass shooter in the us. but that is not true. almost 88,000.8 per 100,000 people own a gun and 3.59 of the 100,000 use them for murder. that is less than people think because people always hear abut the murder and never about the law abiding
