First, we’ll gather all spices and our beef. 1. We will be using roughly 1½ pounds of ground beef. 2. For the spices, you might have to do some shopping around. 3. Our spices include: 2 teaspoons of cumin, 2 teaspoons of paprika, 1 teaspoon of cayenne (although I like to add a little more), 2 teaspoons of minced garlic (I recommend fresh and using a garlic press), ½ teaspoon of crushed dried basil, 1½ teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper, 1 tablespoon of chili powder, 1 tablespoon of ancho chili powder, 1 tablespoon of hot New Mexico Chili powder, 1 teaspoon of brown sugar, and tobasco sauce B. Second, we’ll gather our vegetables and water 1. For this recipe, we’ll need 1 cup of minced onion, ½ a cup of chopped green pepper, 1 16-ounce can of cut up tomatoes, 2 8-ounce cans of tomato sauce, and 2 cans of partially drained kidney beans and ½ cup of water. 2. Note, not all companies make 16 ounce cans, some make 14.5 ounce cans, so you can just ball-park it.

Next, drain the fat from the pan and add the chopped onion and pepper if added. B. For the final part of the final step, we add the other ingredients. 1. Start off with the cut up tomatoes along with the tomato sauce, followed by the water. 2. Next, let that simmer for 5 to 7 hours, and within 15 minutes of serving, add your brown sugar, tobasco sauce, if desired, and kidney beans.
