Informative Speech Outline: Child Abuse

Purpose

At the end of my presentation, the audience will be able to explain what child abuse is, the three most common types of child abuse and list the impacts that child abuse has on the victim.

Introduction

Remember when you were a child, and try to remember what your biggest fear was. The one fear that made your heart beat so fast you can almost burst out of your own chest.
The one fear that made your whole body shakes uncontrollably to the point where you couldn’t take it anymore.
Now imagine having to live with that fear every single day of your life. Imagine being a child whose biggest fear is whether or not he is going to starve to death.

Central idea

Child abuse can be committed in several ways and the impact it has on the victim is extremely serious and does not only affect them in childhood but also adulthood.

Chambliss " Neglect is the negligent treatment or maltreatment of a child by a parent figure under circumstances that indicate harm or threaten harm to the child’s health or well-being."

C) Examples - failing to take them to the doctor, not involving in school, not giving them the proper food and shelter they need and totally ignoring their emotions.

2) Physical Abuse
A) The childwelfare.gov "the none accidental physical injury ranging from minor bruises to sever fractions as a result of punching, beating, kicking, biting or burning them."

B) Shaken baby syndrome - when you pick up the infant and you shake them violently and you do it many times to the point where the baby 's brain swells.

C) Book - ‘Because I remember terror, father I remember you’ by William Silverman. It is a really sad book based on a true story on a child who is physically abused and neglected by her alcoholic father.

3) Sexual Abuse
A) " the use of a child for sexual gratification of an adult", it could be in other ways; forcing them to watch non appropriate sexual videos.
