Professional athletes are getting paid more than individuals that help our society in a good and helpful way. In fact, they are getting way overpaid. “Unless you’re finding a cure for cancer or creating world peace, I don't know if anybody deserves to get that much money,” said Drew Brees, quarterback for NFL team New Orleans Saints, after signing the 5 year 100$ million dollar contract. I believe that this is true, that professional athletes are indeed getting overpaid. There are many individuals that affect our society in a positive strong way and are receiving less money than professional athletes do.
There are many different opinions on if professional athletes get paid to much compared to the median household income. Professional athletes should take what they have for granted because it is a very generous career. I'm not saying that it is totally wrong to get paid to play a professional sport I just feel that it is an exceeding amount than it needs to be. So overall, do professional athletes get paid too much? I agree with the people that say, yes they do get paid too much.
The million dollar question; should college athletes be paid? This is an immense debate, but if you were to ask me, I would say yes, college athletes should be paid. There are a plethora of reasons why college athletes should get paid. College athletes should get paid because of the amount of time they put into their sport, the amount of money everyone else is making off of them, and their overall importance to the school. There are a myriad of reasons that people can argue the opposite way, but, the reasons they should get paid definitely outweigh the reasons they shouldn’t get paid.
“Nine football coaches will be paid at least $1,000,000 in overall compensation in 2000....” College players should get paid because they have a chance to help out their families while they are in college. Athletes should at least get paid just like coaches but not as much as coaches. It wouldn’t be fair for college athletes to not get paid because if they get paid it gets them ready for the pro’s. The athletes should at least have a chance to have just a little fun.
The battling of whether or not to pay college athletes has been on the table for a long time. NCAA has been fighting against those who believe that athletes should be paid for playing the sport. NCAA has won this case a few times before. It is unfair for the athletes to put in all the work and not get anything beneficial to them. The athletes who are not getting paid do not have hardly any freedom outside of practice.
There has been a significant discussion in regards to whether collegiate athletes should or should not get paid while they are in school. Collegiate athletes all across the nation perform for their dedicated fan bases week in and week out. A lot goes into these marveled matchups that goes unseen. Hard work, dedication, blood, sweat, and tears are shed, yet you wouldn't know that if you're just a typical fan. These are a few of the things that these so called fans don't get to experience firsthand.
Wouldn’t it be nice to earn millions of dollars to play a sport for fun? Being a professional athlete is something almost everybody has dreamed about and only a modest percentage have achieved. Sports are part of everyday life for most people in the country and millions of people idolize the players. Professional athletes are making over and above what they deserve. this money should be given to doctors and the armed forces.
Many athletes use their fame and fortune to make the world a better place. They are extremely talented and amazing at what they do. Some people believe that athletes are overpaid, and that they don’t deserve to get paid as much as they do. People are starting to get furious because it seems like every year athlete get paid more. In my opinion, I don't think they get overpaid.
Benefits of Waxing for Bodybuilders: At present waxing is most popular with athletes like swimmers, gymnasts, bodybuilders, tennis players and men who are generally into fitness. Since they work hard to have lean muscular bodies, they want their musculature to show, and hair almost completely hides any definition, particularly with the abdominal muscles. Actors and models like waxing because they find if they have a hairy body they tend to be cast only in “stupid, brutish” character roles, because that is the cliché opinion in our society about hairy men. This is why waxing to shape the eyebrows for men is so popular, as very hairy eyebrows, gives the impression that a man is not very bright, and is rather vulgar.
Why do colleges think that they can get millions of dollars off of college athletes and not give money back to them for earning it all? Michael Rosenberg, Laura Pappano, and Joe Posnanski were three out of the four authors that I read about that shared their views on college athletes getting paid or not in their articles. Between all of these three writers i noticed they all mentioned how much money colleges receive from just ticket sales. Joe Posnanski and Michael Rosenberg both agree that college athletes should get paid, Laura Pappano on the other hand was more focused on the money that the colleges are receiving from just ticket sales, booster donations, and cable deals. She also expresses her concern on how every time the basketball and football team win three games in a row , the GPA of the players goes down by 0.3.
