Most epic adventures don’t start out with an application and insurance waiver. My mother had told me that I needed to get a job this summer because she was tired of seeing me mope around the house. Throughout May she had been not so subtly putting application papers on my bedroom desk and other places in the house. Each time I saw one; I rolled my eyes then proceeded to throw it in the trash. Finally at the end of the school year she forced me to go to an interview at Lucky’s, a small amusement park that was at the edge of town. Most of the people that went there were families and teens that needed a place to smoke weed. It was extremely run down after years of abuse by children. As I parked my car in the gravel parking lot, a wave of disgust …show more content…
“It’s an insurance waiver. Basically says that if you’re dumb and get your arm cut off while working here, it’s not our fault,” he grumbles. I should have just sucked up my pride and applied to McDonalds or Burger King. The crunch of the gravel beneath my feet taunts my bad decision as I walk back to my car. I whip open my door and toss in the pastel pink shirt the man gave me. He told me that it was customary and that I started work on Saturday, two days from now. The songs on the radio all cried for my vanishing happiness. On Saturday my mother basically had to force me out of the house. I hated the pastel pink shirt and everything about this job; little did I know that this would quickly change. When I arrived the parking lot was filled with a measly two cars, but it was only seven in the morning and I knew the daytime crowd would come later. Another employee arrived just as I stepped out of the car. She had pale skin and golden hair that cut off just at her chin. I was stuck in my spot. “Hey,” a voice said pulling me from my trance. “Oh hey, I’m uh Maddie,” I stutter. “Nice to meet you,” she extends a perfectly manicured hand towards me, “I’m Josie,” We shake hands and butterflies travel to my
. I believe the two situations are different because the arbitration clause in the insurance policy, that was sold by Sphere Drake Ins. Co., was well known by Rosalie & Matteo Corporation, the party that bought the policy. In the Brower vs. Gateway case, the arbitration clause was stuck in paperwork, that was stuck in the box that the computer came in. Brower had no idea about the clause until it was time to file the lawsuit.
“She wanted the wait staff to be middle aged black men, wearing white coats and black bow ties”. My jaw dropped. I could not believe what I was hearing. I instantly had such dislike and anger towards this woman. Upon doing research for this week’s discussion I learned the law suit that was brought against her for sexual harassment and discrimination were thrown out.

Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, or ‘Obamacare’ was the expansion of Medicaid program across the states. Charles Barrilleaux and Carlisle Rainey look at why state government have opted out of the Medicaid expansion. They find that Obama’s 2012 vote share and the governor’s partisanship better explains the disapproval to Medicaid expansion, rather than measures of need, such as life expectancy or the number of people that are uninsured. Charles Barrilleaux and Carlisle Rainey find that a Republican governor is a higher percentage point more likely to oppose the expansion than Democratic governors. Whereas, the results show that the percentage uninsured in the state to have a small positive effect on the probability of opposition.
On Monday, October 12th, I went with a group of girls to the Lone Tree Retirement Center for service hours. Upon arriving at the nursing home, I wasn’t sure what task we would be given. One of the nursing home’s staff members named Leon introduced himself to us and gave us our job. Our job was to repaint parking spots in the parking lot. We followed him to his shed and got the supplies.
When I was seventeen I worked at a fast food restaurant called Tim Hortons. It was my second job and I surprisingly didn’t hate it. Actually, I really quite enjoyed the people that I worked with. During school days I would work the evening shift, which was from 2 P.M. to 10 P.M. Then on the weekends I would work in the morning from 6 A.M. to 2 P.M..
This being what was supposed to be a quick temporary job as started looking for work again as a Game Designer. On my first day of swing shift I’m walking over to Starbucks before work with two other Pit Clerks. Luba asks me what days off I got and I reply Monday and Tuesday. I start to explan why I really wanted Tuesday and Wednesday; because those are the nights I raid.
We were rushing out of the room as fast as we could; the alarm was set to go off in just two minutes. The light switch was on the opposite side of the door so we had to run through the darkened room before it turned eleven. We finally made it out of the building, with two minutes to spare. It was that night that I learned how important it was to honor a commitment. Earlier that week, my mom, the director of the food pantry, order 1600 pounds of food.
Profile Essay While working several shifts in an Alzheimer's unit in a local care facility, I had the opportunity to meet a registered nurse named Sarah. Sarah had plenty of insight on what it is like being a nurse in a facility. During my observations of her duties I witnessed many things that opened my eyes as to what I want in my future career choices.
Neff Said: Mise-en-scene and Sound in Double Indemnity Film Noir is a genre filled with many interesting conventions. The films within Film Noir use narration, performance, lighting, and blocking in order to tell tales of murder, betrayal, and questionable morals.
“My name is Dalton,” he began with a grin. Continuously I responded with a mutter, “Semheralda,”, taken aback by both his perplexing characteristics and beautiful voice in conjunction with his handsome features. “What was that?” he inquired, grinning with a large, shiny pearly smile that contained all the light in the universe. “I’m Semheralda.”
The mixture of acetone and crystal nail powder intoxicated the air as nails were being clipped, filed, and painted. Words like french manicure, cuticles, pedicure, acrylic, buffer, and acetone were part of my daily lexicon. Every summer since 2010, I have been a seasonal assistant for my uncle who opened up his own nail salon. As an assistant, I held many responsibilities that only grew over time.
As I found myself alone for an instant, I felt a gentle tap on my shoulder, as soft and fragile, as the flutter of a sparrow. I did not turn around right away, then I heard behind me, a sweet voice of crystalline radiance, that ravished my ears. “You’re a policeman, aren’t you?” That was when I turned around, and saw a blond girl, smiling.
How useful is the passenger insurance on your car insurance? Anyone who occasionally carpooling, BobT, the football team of their son to a game or take the whole family on vacation thinks sometimes of "what if I get in a car accident?". I didn’t know your name, but I wanted to then. “I’m trying to get to Harlem Avenue,” you said, squinting at the train. “Oh, that’s the next train, it should be coming in soon,” I responded, and you looked at me then, your eyes were blue but not like mine. Yours were very light, and airy, almost iridescent. “What train are you taking?”
