Discipline is the desire to do what is right. Furthermore, discipline gives the confidence to act correctly and properly. According to Kouzes & Posner (1993), the executive models personal traits such as integrity, honesty and trustworthiness, traits that long have been known to characterize effective leaders. More important than personal traits, eliminate, are visible behaviors. These include doing the right thing, showing concern for people and treating them with dignity and respect, being open, listening, and living a personally
In order to become a successful leader the person has to think like a leader in being confident, being firm with the team, being an expert, and caring about the followers. Confidence is one of the requirements to be a leader. When the person is confident and he acts as he is in the right place, then that one gets trust and respect from his followers. Moreover, is to be firm, but kind at the same time. The leader should put the rules and the frontiers.
Credible leaders are aware that respect is vital in establishing loyalty and respect in return by not insulting, embarrassing and manipulating anyone. Credible leaders try to remain transparent with their actions with no hidden motives. This habit fosters an honest environment where unethical behavior is strongly discouraged (Gleeson, 2016). Another way effective leaders gain credibility is by being educated. Credible leaders continue to learn to increase their knowledge and expertise.
If you want commitment from the people you work with and who are expected to follow you, they will need to feel impressed by the understanding of the leader 's vision and mission of the organization. The need to be inspired is their fundamental need. To be an effective leader you need to have: Passion (effective leader is a person with a passion for a cause that is larger than they are. Someone who has a dream and a vision for better society, or at least, some portion of it. Having loyalty, respect and personal Courage are some values to be able to always place the mission first, never accept defeat, never quit and never leave a fallen comrade. What does it mean to be a “good leader?” Leadership is easily defined: it is “the process of influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation while operating to accomplish the mission and improve organization.” However, a good leader is not so simple to put into words. In my opinion, a good, effective leader is someone who is competent in their job, intelligent, compassionate, has sound judgement and good morals, and is empathetic. They are not afraid to step up and take charge of a situation but are also willing to listen to others and be open to new ideas. No one can know everything, and a good leader should be able to ask others for help when they need it. They are always looking for improvement within themselves and those
On the other hand, a leader who is into benefiting both of you is someone who knows your goals and is trying to get you to achieve them. You must not put too much hope in your leader if you don 't know them well. People are inclined to look for a leader for confidence, someone who believes in them, and motivates them to believe in themselves. Well as you may know there are people who aren 't confident in themselves, so they might need someone to be their right hand. Also, he said that a good leader must be good at human relations but if it is required, he/she should be able to be autocratic. According to him, a good leader must allocate responsibility in such a way that they should not undertake more than their ability to carry the burden. Douglas MacArthur has a quotation about leadership that makes me feel that it is a pure picture of what precisely leadership is “A true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough choices, and the consideration to pay attention to the other’s needs. He does not set out to be a leader, however, becomes one by the fairness of his actions and the integrity of his intent”. That takes all of the moral appearances, like confidence, equality and integrity. Course Topic and Leadership Examples From taking this session, for me the most interesting learning aspect is the Traits Approach because it has a unique feature that is “Great leaders are born, not made” and this approach focuses on finding different personality behaviors and characteristics that are related to successful leadership across a diversity of situations. I realized from our father, H.H Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was determinedly convinced that confidence, morality and devotion were necessary traits of leadership that is dedicated to helping society,so from the role model (H.H Shaikh Zayed) I learned the real meaning of self-confidence and good ethics.
