Famous football coach, Tony Dungy, is consistently a man of honor and strength throughout his book “Quiet Strength”. His book is a memoir of his life which captures his discovery of what it means to be a Godly leader and how to live it out both on and off the field. With his son 's tragic suicide, and media fiascos with players, Tony discovers that listening to God and who he has put in our lives will give him peace and wisdom. Tonys upbringing set him up for a lifetime of possibilities which allowed him to go farther than most. I connected most with how Tony handled his son’s suicide, he handled it in a manner I wish i could and would have.
Leadership is a very important quality that I value and strive to live out in my every day life through athletics and academics. One way that I lead through athletics is serving as our volleyball team’s floor captain. That means that I am responsible for my team’s conduct and communicating with the officials. As the setter, I have the ability to lead my teammates through constant encouragement and positive actions. By improving each contact into a hittable ball, I am able to set my teammates up for success. An opportunity that I was able to lead off the court was by hosting a team meal at my house before senior night. We were able to bond during this night together. I also organized the senior
Denzel Washington who played Coach Boone leads the Titans to a successful football season by showing leadership and dedication towards his football players. The movie is about the path and mind of the football players as they are forced to play on an integrated football team. In Oliver Gruner essay, You’re Only as Good as Your Last Game: Remember the Titans Remembers Civil Rights suggests that the “film depicts the struggle for civil rights in the South as an ongoing process, one which is not isolated to a signal narrow historical epoch. Furthermore, this struggle is shown to require the active involvement of both African American and white characters, and thus avoids the singular tales of “white redemption” that are said to have been common to the “civil rights cinema” of the 1980s and 1990s (Leiter, 33)”. But with the help of Coach Boone and the other assistant coaches, the football players realize that hard work and dedication will help change their moral and values in life. Remember the Titans uses sports gerund to illustrate the change of integration and how the football players overcame racism and
Army defines leadership as “influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation, while operating to accomplish the mission and improve the organization.” As a professional Non-Commissioned officer, proudly serving in the United State Army and within the boundary that clearly depicts vivid picture of Army Leadership. I am SGT Mostafazadeh define and develop my first Leadership Philosophy and most importantly use it in the daily bases and maintain revision and update it as I develop and learn new thing throughout my Military Carrere.
However, by the end of the film, we see characters gradually changing their behavior as they gain knowledge of others different than them. Two situations that describe this is the interactions between Coach Yoast and Coach Boone, as well as Julius Campbell and Gerry Bertier. To further explain, at the start of the film Coach Yoast is extremely undermining of Boones authority when he first starts as the new head football coach. Both are exceptionally talented in their field, however Yoast feels his white players are superior to the black players, whereas Boone is devoted to putting aside the injustices regarding the different races, to lead the team to victory and teach valuable lessons to his players. The two butt heads due to racial prejudice when it comes to coaching styles and how to coach the team to victory. However after camp and as the film progresses, you see Yoast beginning to warm up to Boone and begin to realize he knows what he is doing and is capable of doing it. The two coaches eventually but aside their differences and begin working well together as coaches. Some people though in the town, still are not in favor of Boone. For example the chairman of the school board, who informs Yoast just before the semi-finals for state, that he will do whatever it takes for T.C. Williams to take a loss, allowing Yoast to be inducted into the Hall
As I embark on the newest chapter in my life it occurs to me that I must first take time to fully process and appreciate the magnitude of what it really is to be a Warrant Officer in the United States Army. From my own perspective as well as the perspective seen from society I can see my new responsibilities will hold a paramount position in many different aspects. This being said, I can look forward to a major shift in what my focus will be and how my decisions will directly impact those around me.
Integrity is important for many reasons. The author, Ethan Canin, uses integrity as the central idea of his short story, “The Palace Thief”. The narrator, Hundert, believes it's his job to mold his students’ characters,so that these boys could grow up to become powerful leaders with good morals.
Coach Boone begins by teaching the players to respect themselves by first dressing the part off the field, He made sure they each were properly dressed by wearing a dress coat and tie. He reminded them that he had a dictatorship manner of coaching. He often used metaphors such as “Any two year old child can throw a fit, but football is about controlling that anger” Coach Boone drilled perfection to his team members. They were paired up and forced to discuss family and social issues about each other to promote the knowledge of cultural differences, and most of all, to develop friendships. Coach Boone gave minimal water breaks to enhance discipline. He went to the extreme of awakening the team as early as 3:00am for a morning run through a dark, damp forest. During the run, the team miraculously attended the needs of each other, the most implausible occurrence about this run was their arrival at Gettysburg. Coach Boone then reminded them, “If the team don't come together, they too will be destroyed.” The next scene showed two influential players involved in a
A career in policing requires an individual to meet a high standard for character and demonstrated behavior, in order to be developed into an effective officer. Succeeding in a police academy requires the candidate to display and apply integrity, a skill which must be developed before receiving admission. Integrity demonstrated through a police officer’s personal life, provides the foundation for a respected career. When presented with the opportunity to leverage a peace officer’s position for personal profit, an individual who has previously made selfless choices, is more reliable for operating within the law.
Director Boaz Yakin is undeviating from this them of change that he portrays through both character development and dialogue. Arguably, coach Boone, starring as the central character in the movie he is unwavering in his position as a roughneck who is strong in his convictions. This is seen by the audience in his numerous collusions with defensive line coach Bill Yoast and players. Both verbally and physically abusive in practices or on the sideline, he commands perfection in exchange for unity in the form of extra practices at longer durations. Usually due to the players continuous self-segregating behavior in living and dining. Yet, his counterpart, coach Yoast is progressive but hesitant in his acceptance of Boone. Considering that he is the all-American coach with preexisting prejudices he has the ability to compromise. As seen in his change from blatant discriminatory rejection to sensible compliance in reference to Boones offer of assistance in coaching the Titans. However, in every instance it is the players that truly make the team a team. From Gerry Bertier, a white team
Coach Herman Boone’s leadership styles manifest themselves based on his upbringing which provides a tough exterior. Based on a tough and rough childhood, he has become a civil right activist. The experience and tough background he went through impacts so much on his leadership styles. In his first meeting with coaching staff at Titan, he had the idea and notion that he was not wanted. Throughout the meeting he remained polite and calm despite being pushed back .He portrayed a leadership style of being diplomatic and respectful with a clear agenda which was winning. On becoming head coach he adopts an authoritative approach and seizes control in order to set a tone for the team and staff to follow. He makes it clear that his leadership is a dictatorship and he is the

Boone’s leadership throughout camp never waivers. He uses a series of skills to motivate the team and inspire the minds of his players.
