Ever since the internet was first brought up to the world, it has been criticized by many and been spoken well of by many. In order to reach a conclusion, both points of view must be analyzed; the internet has positive impacts and negative impacts but the questions we should ask ourselves are: Do the negative impacts present a threat to our society? Are there enough benefits that the threats are nullified? The internet brings many benefits to the world that facilitate people’s lives in many ways, firstly the internet can provide unlimited communication, this is one of the biggest benefits the internet can bring to the table if not the biggest. This first negative impact relates to the previous positive impact, and it’s the dark side of the social media. Social media can really help teenagers learn about the world, improve their social skills, and make it easier for them to make friends, however the social media can also be very dangerous for teenagers, because teenagers can be influenced pretty easily and this makes them perfect prey for the predators in the internet. A very good example of the dangers of social media is Cyberbullying, it is a major issue in the internet now a day and there have been many cases where the unthinkable happened, this is a problem that exists because of social networks and unlimited communication. This advantage relates to the first benefit in the essay, both benefits are very similar but at the same time quite different. The sharing of files is done via the World Wide Web and intranet, whereas communication is done via the internet itself. The World Wide Web and intranet allows people to quickly share something with their many friends in one message, this form of easy sharing has enabled people to easily send work, messages and files all at once and therefore saved people lots of precious time. Some examples of websites and programs that enable easy sharing are Gmail, Facebook, Twitter and many others. Of course sharing personal stuff online may lead to many problems for example Cyberbullying, stealing of information, these were already mentioned earlier in a paragraph but the % of it actually happening is very slim and therefore most people share stuff safely.
