Displaying leadership, service, and character is, to me, very important. I have shown leader ship in many different ways throughout my life, one example being in the classroom. When there are table discussions I usually lead the group and try to make sure that everyone in that group has a chance to talk, government class has been a great example. Mr. Furlong gives us time to talk out controversial topics, and I help direct people at my table share what their views are with out belittlement by actively listening and responding in a positive way. Also when I respond to someone's thoughts and opinions I try to remain as open minded to their views because they are not always parallel. Another example would be that a sophomore at the beginning …show more content…
I consistently try to have a positive attitude when I am around other people. One example would be this summer, I was on multiple trips and I was traveling for long periods of time, so when I reached the destinations, I was exhausted. However, I tried my best to not let my sleep deprivation get to interrupting the time that I would have to interact with the people that were around me. This gave me a perspective on how it does not matter how I feel it matters how I make other people feel when they are around …show more content…
Just a few years ago I was uncomfortable asking people for help and stepping out of my comfort zone, but being in places where I was strongly encouraged to reach out to strangers was very helpful. I faced many challenges with reaching out to people especially in Spain. Since I did not speak the same language, fluently, it was very hard to communicate with people to ask for assistance. I quickly overcame that by finding ways to communicate the words that I did not know. In addition, when I am around both of my grandmothers, I have to find out ways to keep them calm because one has dementia and the other is suffering the side effects of a stroke. Talking with and helping them with various tasks helped me become more observant to a person's behavior to try and keep them from getting to stressed about a situation. Recently my father's mother accompanied me in celebrating my father's birthday and I could tell that she was getting stressed and I could tell all she needed was a hand to hold, so I did that for
Peter Drucker once said “Effective leadership is not about making speeches or being liked; leadership is defined by results not attributes”(BrainyQuote). Indeed, many leaders enjoy being popular. But popularity is not the most important trait in a leader; people should look at a leader’s results rather than his/her ability to speak. In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, many characters have the potential to be leaders. Yet, judging from his characteristics, Piggy would be the best candidate for leadership.
When using REBT to address Maliya’s problems my goals would be to help her recognize and correct irrational thinking and see how her thinking is connected to her behavior. . In order to accomplish this, I would simply explain the concept of irrational thinking and replacing it with more rational thinking. From this point we would begin to examine some of her flawed thinking. In order to find out what her self-talk is, we would need to examine some current problems that she faces by using trauma focuses cognitive behavior therapy and play therapy. By employing the A-B-C-D-E model of disputing, we would learn about her thoughts and feelings regarding any traumatic events.
Even up until today, I try to accommodate them to the best of my abilities based on my current circumstances. However, this revealed to me some of the ineffective ways of communicating and dealing with conflict that resulted in core conflict. I often find myself being sensitive to criticism and rejection. On top of that, I realized how much people in my life controlled me which diminished my voice in quite a few situations. But I am finding myself to be frustrated with helping people now for some reason.
I was taught to work hard and never give up. Leadership is also a very important pillar in the National Honor Society. A leader is a person who guides others with their actions or words and influences others in a positive way. I feel that I am a leader in many ways. I participate in many different
Acquiring leadership skills along with a strong character and the sense to serve others is vital. A leader should be resourceful, dependable, selfless, and a good problem solver. I have led in many ways- inside and outside of school. Last year as a tenth grader, I was class secretary for Class Council.
Displaying leadership is a lot on to take. It shows responsibility. For example, when we have projects where we are in groups
3 specific examples of verbal communication displayed in the episode that illustrate the guidelines for using verbal messages effectively, as outlined in Chapter 4 in your text 1. Rachael’s quick response to George when he said hello to her. She got up and quickly dismissed herself. When she left he said “what kind of greeting was that”. This fits under the confirmation category.
Motivating and Rallying people are important characteristics when being a leader. King was a man who did this very well. He was able to rally people of any color people of all races would protest with him. Motivating people is an important part of being a leader because it can be the difference of earning or losing an objective.
Respect is a huge part of leading too. While under intense circumstances you need to respect your team and act like you are not any more important than them and they will naturally gain respect for you. There are so many more characteristics that help describe leaders and it all comes down to how you handle conflict. Although the two expeditions had unexpected obstacles on their trips, both Sir Ernest Shackleton and Rob Hall handled their situations in a very mature and appropriate
An example of how communication is personal in my life is when I had a crush on a girl when we were both in the eighth grade. After a while we found out that we both liked each other, but I was told not to date until I was sixteen so I told her that we should wait. She understood at first but then became skeptical that we would still like each other for that long, let alone even be friends. She kept asking me and pressuring me into being in a relationship so much, that we completely stopped even being friends.
Strengths: Tara greets the client in a polite and a professional tone. She does a good job setting the expectations that the client would call and update the email address. From here, she confirms the message we reached out regarding the October payment. She sets the expectations that the last payment was received went for the month prior. She does a good job providing a breakdown of the payment timeline.
Hi Sathish This email for feedback only , not a complain , Few days after the workshop we had on the office last month . Kavina ( the POC in store 11291) called Stephanie ( my pharmacy partner) introduced her self to her (as they did not know each other from before) and told her that during the meeting I talked badly about her as a weak pharmacist.
A strong leader sets the standard and not caught in hypocrisy. To set a good example, I will need to develop and hold high moral, ethical and, integrity. It is foolish to execute a command if one cannot even understand his own. Having strong integrity in everything I do, will mold my image as an ethical leader who has high moral. Therefore, I can mentor others on what is Wright and wrong by showing my keen judgment, in problem-solving skills and critical thinking ability, without any personal bias.
In leadership a person must be able to communicate, motivate, and be a positive influence for others. Leadership skills come from experience and individual growth. I am able to show off my leadership
Understanding my high levels communication apprehension has helped me identify its underlying causes and the role it plays in my interpersonal conflicts. According to Cahn and Abigail (2014), communication apprehension is “the level of anxiety a person feels in response to interpersonal, group, or public communication situations.” As someone with generalized anxiety disorder, I have always been aware of the high levels of communication apprehension I experience. It was not until reading about it in the text and seeing it firsthand in my conflict records that I realized how it has affected my view of communication. Whether it’s a phone call for pizza delivery or a lunch date with my friends, the first emotion I feel is not of excitement or anticipation:
