In Abusch’s article, he interprets the meaning of Gilgamesh’s conflicts in all three of the different versions. In the old Babylonian version, it focuses on heroic battle and the search of fame. This can be proven since Gilgamesh fought with Huwawa in order to keep his title of warrior. Killing the monster should have brought him fame, but instead it leads to the death of his dear friend. This leads to Gilgamesh giving up on his dreams of being a hero and he decides to live out his life as a man. In the Eleven-Tablet version, Gilgamesh is king of Uruk due to his courage and power. However, his power leads to his failure as a king. This can be proven by the way his people begged the gods for relief from his rule. The gods send Enkidu to help
