INTERSTELLAR: What I love about this movie is the fact that Nolan brothers were able to take 2 ordinary concepts; one revolving around Einstein 's relativity and the other immersed in human emotions; and then make it into something truly Extra-Ordinary. I suppose I could go further with this. This undoubtedly brings up the notion between corporeality and incorporeality, matter and spirit, etc., because if fifth dimensional beings do not have a third dimensional body, how can they exist? Cooper and Brand set up and represent the tension between these two polar opposites. Brand is oriented toward love and leaps of faith, as she demonstrated on Miller 's planet and her lack of logical thought, and on the ship while arguing about traveling to Edmund 's planet. Cooper is rigidly rational, as is demonstrated in the aforementioned argument, and basically all throughout the movie. If the fifth dimensional beings really did choose what happened to whom, then of course it makes sense that Brand, being the maternal, almost spiritual individual that she is, would go on to colonize and nurse a planet into activity with life. It also makes sense that these fifth dimensional beings would send Cooper into a situation in which he could only face what he loved most, without rationality
