Everyone who has learned about World War II should know about the Holocaust. The Holocaust was during the same period of World War II. “What is it called the Holocaust?” you may ask. The Holocaust originates from the Greek language and means “completely burnt offering to God.”
The Holocaust is the genocide of almost six million European Jews during World War II, in an intentional attempt to eradicate by the National Socialist German Workers’ Party known as Nazis in Germany under the command of Adolph Hitler. While the majority of people today understand at least vaguely what the holocaust was, yet there are actually an aggrandizing amount of people that don't fathom or apperceive what it involved. The holocaust was primarily a mission to eradicate all Jews, disabled, mentally challenged, blacks, gypsies, or anyone who wasn’t a pure Aryan off of the face of Earth. To be more specific the holocaust was to annihilate all Jews first because Hitler had some mental enmity with them. He had said that Jews were
Chapter One When I finally wake the first thought that comes to mind is “What on Earth is that god awful smell?” Did someone forget to take the trash out? For a week? That’s when I blink my eyes and find myself on what looks like a dirty nasty cattle car. I am completely surrounded by people.
The Holocaust was the mass murder of Jews, Gypsies, and the mentally or physically disabled (Introduction). The word Holocaust means burning of animals as a human sacrifice (Steele 6). In the process of the Holocaust, more than 35 million people died (Strahinich 76). The Holocaust took place mostly in Europe and Poland, where the Jewish population was three million plus (Introduction). Prime locations for the camps were on good working railroads with ghettos nearby (Strahinich 39).
Survivors of the Holocaust After the war against the Nazis, there were very few survivors left. For the survivors returning to life to when it was before the war was basically impossible. They tried returning home but that was dangerous also, after the war, anti-Jewish riots broke out in a lot of polish cites. Although the survivors were able to build new homes in their adopted countries. The Jewish communities had no longer existed in much part of Europe anymore.
The Holocaust was created by Adolf Hitler in 1933 ending in 1945. Adolf Hitler was an Austrian-born German politician who was the leader of the Nazi party, chancellor of Germany from 1933 to 1945, and the Führer of Nazi Germany from 1934 to 1945. The word Holocaust is a word of Greek origin meaning “sacrifice by fire.” The term “concentration camp” is most strongly associated with the several hundred camps established by the Nazis in Germany and occupied Europe in 1933-1945, among the most infamous being Dachau, Belsen, and Auschwitz. From the earliest years of the Nazi regime, German authorities persecuted homosexuals and others whose behavior did not match prescribed social norms.
The Holocaust was one of the most devastating times for all of the world. It strained the world’s economy and resources; death tolls were tremendously high and injuries were severe. This was one of the worst events in our world’s history. For the 12 years that Germany was ruled by the Nazi Party, a central belief was that there existed in society, certain people who were dangerous and needed to be eliminated for German society to flourish and survive (Impact of the Holocaust).
The Holocaust is a time in history when millions of people were persecuted in Europe by being sent to live in ghettos and eventually being deported to concentration camps where they were systematically annihilated until the Allied forces liberated the remaining survivors. The Jews were moved to the ghettos, because Hitler pushed the Jews to move to the east, then they concore move of the east and move them more to the east. Then “there was no more room for them to move to the east, so they built ghettos for them to live” (Byers 32). But his true intentions were to “separate the Jewish people from manly Germans and also other races” (Allen 37).

The word was derived from the Greek word that meant Sacrifice to the Gods (Steele 7), also called the Shoan which is the Hebrew word for catastrophe (Steele 7). So many countries took place in this 12-year genocide, including, “Germany, Italy, Japan, Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria, which were also known as the Axis Powers” (Steele 34). But, although there were all those countries they were all part of one larger group called the Nazis, were the ones who were killing all the different denominations of people. (Bachrach 58).
The Holocaust is the deadliest recognized genocide in human history. It lasted from January 30,1933 – May 8,1945 and would result in the l1 million deaths. The causes of the Holocaust begin at the end of World War One with what Germans referred to as “the stab in the back”. This was a myth that claimed the German Army did not loose World War One but was betrayed by the Jewish population who gave up land and supplies to the Allies. As this spread anti-Semitism or hate for Jewish people grew in Germany as people viewed the Jewish population as deceptive and traitorous.
