School was just one of those things that never really just came easy for me especially math, I didn 't really pay attention, always sat in the back of the class, sometimes I would read, or draw, sort of just tuning out the teacher. One night I came home from soccer practice and my parents were both sitting at the round wooden dining table that’s when I heard the news of my failing grade in math. I had two choices either keep doing sports as long as I go to tutoring or my parents would kick me out of all sports. The next gut wrenching, math test was on friday, so I had to study as much as I could before that. To me it was like do or die , because if I didn’t get a B or higher I would not get to play sports for awhile.
Children’s don’t go out and play anymore instead kids are inside for hours playing video games or watching television more than being outside exercising. The author Dorothy Nixon explain how parents, advertisements, companies, government are blame for children not being healthy and obese. Parents should take more action and be good role models by teaching their kids to eat right,
I rarely got a turn on this game, as I got older they told me it was because it was like getting a massage so their turn was never finished. I recall playing many board games with my mom, dad, sister, brother, and cousin. When Sebastian, my cousin, and I would go to my grandma and grandpa 's house (almost every day) we would often make up our own games such as ‘house’ and other child like games. When it was time to take a nap I would try to delay it as much as possible. I would sort of make a game out of making my grandma watch Mary Poppins with me every single day I was there.
As a child I never really enjoyed writing but reading was very enjoyable. Despite my current writing skills, I never really enjoyed the task. I’ve always loved to copy others penmanship and draw, but when it came to organizing my thoughts about a given topic I struggled to completely express myself. At a very young age I began to read while in daycare. I then began to annoy my family because while scrolling through the television guide I could identify my favorite shows and they could no longer tell me the show wasn’t on.
It was usually hot and humid in Puerto Rico, so most of the time I stayed at home. Every day, when I came home from school, I would put my school things away, sat on the faded red sofa and turned on the TV. I would watch Danny Phantom, or any show that was on and watched with my family. I was always fascinated by the stories, the characters and would end up daydreaming. I would ask myself if there was something that would allow me to use creativity and imagination to make something new?
Today the internet has taken control of our future generation. We physically cannot function without our electronic devices. In some ways these can work to our benefit like tracking how much we’re exercising or what foods we’re consuming. But in most cases these devices make us a very sedentary generation (Sahoo 190). Children get wrapped up in their “kill streak” on their video games or in their number of likes on an Instagram post.
If someone asked me if I wanted homework, I would give them a negative answer. Homework is something I’ve always never enjoyed doing. My reasons for not having homework are people have other activities, people are getting tired/stressed out, and people have family situations. Think about it, do we really need homework after all the time we spend at school. Firstly, students shouldn’t have homework because people have other activities.
The lack of poor choices have swept children and parents all across the country. Children now prefer to sit in front of the TV or play videogames for hours instead of going outside and playing with friends. Without any parental supervision. Parents need to be more responsible and force their children outside for an hour to play and run instead of sitting on the couch all day. For my personal opinion I believe the parents are to blame for our public health.
So I felt like I had no free time because once I was done with one assignment I had to start another one. I felt like I already knew what my antecedents were. I felt like they were going to my sister in laws every weekend which all we did was eat and watch movies or shows. Also whenever I went home after school I couldn’t focus on doing my work I would eat then sit in the couch and watch television why trying to do my homework.
It also another way I was able to learn English. Other than that, it was also my source of entertainment and knowledge about the American culture. My parents told me I was basically glued to the TV and that they could never get my attention once I started watching. Shows like That’s so Raven, Totally Spies, and Kim Possible would fascinate me because I could watch their lives and how different it was compared to mines. I would always try to adapt to what they did with their families and lives to mine.
Despite the fact that countless studies have proven that students that receive eight to nine hours of sleep each night preform better in school, many schools still start school at the regular time. Diamond Bar high school is one of these schools that refuse to acknowledge these studies. Students these days have to balance schoolwork, athletics, club activities, and social lives. Getting the proper amount of sleep is the last thing on a young adults mind during their high school career. If so many studies have proven that when students get the right amount of sleep, then why does Diamond Bar high school, a school that prides itself on its high-test scores, not want to benefit their students even more by starting school later than the usual start time?
Well you are wrong. I do not even remember the last time he did a chore. A fifth grader at Orangewood Elementary, who enjoys staying after school for boring activities such as math, reading, and writing club. He spends his days at school and afternoons and nights gaming. His
There are times we have to make the choice to stay home and study without pay or go to work so we can make that monthly installment to stay in school. We all make the same choice which is to work. Without income there would be nothing to study for because we wouldn’t be able to stay in school. As a result, many grades suffer including my own. There aren’t enough hours in the day to go to school, work, do homework, and study for every class.
When you are tired you tend to doze off and start to think of random things like what they ate at Mcdonalds yesterday. When I get up, I am so tired and my brain tends to think it is still the middle of the night because of how dark it is outside. My first reason is that the CDC says that the human brain doesn 't start to learn and thrive until 10 o’clock. The average start time is 7:30-8:00 AM. That 's more than enough time for two 45 minute periods.
