Imagine falling off your yacht, and while you're trying to survive for dear life you end up stumbling upon an unknown islam. But shortly after stumbling upon this island you figure out you have to try and survive in a battle against the General as well as the Czar of said Island. What exactly is this game you may be wondering about? In the short story The Most Dangerous Game, is being hunted by The Czar. Whilst they both love hunting the Czar likes hunting people. Therefore if is Caught he will die, but if he isn't caught over the course of the three days. The Czar will die furthermore making the new Czar. At this point we know something didn’t. The Czar thought he knew something, too, but he was mistaken, adding to the suspense. “I'll wait for you. You'll find that my clothes will fit you, I think.” (Connell par 62). The Czar was planning to win as he thinks the clothes will fit well, 62) This is a form of dramatic irony because it shows that we know something the characters don’t. Ivan is hinting that something will happen, building the suspense around Rainsford. But even though we know we are still in suspense, putting us on the edge of our seats. The narrator continues to use dramatic irony through character speech to enhance the mood because it is keeping the readers engaged.
Ivan stated, “Dear fellow,” said the general, "there is one that can.” (Connell par 108). This shows that there is always someone who can be the one for all you know you may be that person,108). Therefore in this quote, we have figured out who the one for The Czars game will be. has yet to figure out what is going on but is starting to figure out he is the chosen one, through Ivan hinting at Rainsford, of whom he is proposing as a candidate for the most dangerous game.
