Abortion is not only a fluctuating concept in our society, but an ethical and emotional debate, as well. The image I have chosen presents concepts from a cultural and historical background, as well as presents an ethical, emotional, and logical appeal to the audience. The debate about abortion has simply been overblown and exhausted. The truth of the matter is, abortion is murder. Ending a life, whether innocent or guilty, is murder.
Abortion is murder and it is already a crime to kill an innocent being. Mother Theresa once said that, “If a mother can kill her own child - what is left for me to kill you and you to kill me - there is nothing between” (Good Reads, 2001). It has already been said that abortion is the act of terminating pregnancy meaning that abortion stops the growth of living being from reaching completion. There is no way to sweet coat the idea of abortion being what it is, murder. Medical practitioners affirm that a foetus begins to have a heartbeat 3 weeks and 1 day after fertilization (EHD, n.d.).
Alena had experienced an abortion few years ago when her baby was only nine weeks old. She became really sick and not confident, felt embarrassed and dishonest, and could not sleep well because of anxiety and fear. Now, her life is terrible and full of regrets that she hardly becomes pregnant again (P.A.T.H.S.). According to World Health Organization, there are almost 125,000 abortions per day all around the world. Those aborted babies did no get chances to grow up, to see the world or to experience all the good things and bad things. The supporters of abortion think that why should babies come into the world when no one wants them. Also, the right for abortion should not be limited by governments or affected by religions. Abortion should not be tolerated because it is not safe, it can lead to many consequences, and causes more and more bad sexual behaviors.
Is not abortion murdering a baby in the comfortable and safe womb of the mother? This issue has caused many discussions, because even though it is obvious that you are killing a baby, people do not consider it as murder. Abortion is painfully taking a baby´s right to live just because the embryos are not considered human beings. God created us in his image, which gives us a value, and we do not determine if a baby has the right to live based on how we think humans are. All humans have thought on the idea of abortion, and how painful that is to a baby.
An ethical dilemma today in society is that of abortion, which one would define as a deliberate end to a pregnancy. Various arguments exist questioning if an abortion is morally justifiable. Some say the state should decide on the legality of an abortion, some politicians say the federal government should decide, and many believe it should be up to the women since it pertains to their body. In this paper, I will analyze what a utilitarian’s perspective on abortion would be.
She may have family and or financial problems preventing her from being able to properly care for the child. Women are forced to hear both sides of the debate and feel the intensity of a decision. Abortion is the said woman’s private decision and should not be stopped by any law. Only the woman herself knows her body, so abortion is a choice based solely on her feelings. The court case of Roe vs Wade established that
Abortion, Why Not to Abort If you are asking if abortion is the right thing to do, then ask yourself this. Is committing murder the right thing to do? The answer is no. You should never abort a child because of these reasons. First of all you are committing a murder, it may not be considered murder under the law but in my point of view it is.
A fetus is also a life. All lives are equal and a fetus also has the right to live. It is inhumane to deprive a life’s basic rights. It is even immoral to kill animals that have human characteristics,
Those who say abortion should be legal, often state that a woman has a right to make the choice concerning decisions about her own body. Abortion is harmful to the fetus, but there are many beneficial things about abortions for a larger portion of the population. Abortions, when allowed by law, in the developed
Abortion is a huge argument in the world today. “In 1973 the U.S. Supreme Court held in Roe V.Wade that the right of privacy protects women’s decisions to end unwanted pregnancy before the fetus develops.” By 2013, 70 restrictions to curb the practice of abortion from 22 states. (Funk & Wagnalls pg.1). In 2014, five health votes were examined by the House of Representatives regarding the matter of abortion. Everyone has a side to abortion from politics to democrats, people in religions to people with no religions, the people having the baby to someone who never had a baby before; everyone sees a different side to it. My believe on abortion is it should be Illegal because it kills innocent lives.
A second reason why abortion is wrong is because it deprives the fetus from his future. When we decide to kill a fetus then we are taking away from him a future like ours. The argument is as follows : (1) it is impermissible to kill humans, who if lived, would have a future like ours, (2) if abortion is not done, the fetus would have future as we do have, (3) so it is wrong to kill the fetus (4) therefore abortion is impermissible. A similar argument was given by Don Marquis in his article “Why Abortion is Immoral”. He stated that what makes killing wrong is neither the effect on the murder, nor the effect on the victim’s relatives or friends, but the effect is on the victim himself. The loss of life is a great lose one can suffer from. The loss of life deprives the individual from experiences, projects, activities and enjoyments that would have been part of his/her future. So killing is wrong because it deprives the individual from his future. Therefore abortion is impermissible because it will deprive the fetus from his/her future.
Abortion has been a long standing ethical issue debated around the world. It is an issue that evokes, on all sides, very strong feelings and judgements and very heated arguments. The most radical argumentsof the anti- abortion or “pro-life” side of the debate views abortion as the murder of unborn children, and is the equivalent of infanticide making the legal issue of abortion (since the case of Morganthaler) at a rate of 1.5 million a year in Canada into a justified murder of the innocent. There is no right or wrong side to be on, but the side that would have to be against abortion. It has been decided in 1973 by the United States Supreme Court that as long as the baby lives in the womb, he or she would be the property of the mother.
Therefore, stopping the life of a fetus is unethical and wrong. If a person kills a pregnant women they are charged with two counts of murder. If abortion is not murder then why in the United States would the murderer of a pregnant women be charged with two counts? The same should go in abortion cases. Just because the biological mother decides to terminate the pregnancy what is the difference if a murder takes that decision into his or her own hands?
The conflict over abortion in America has been a major social problem in our nation for decades. During the 1960 's and 70 's with the coinciding civil rights movement and women’s rights movement, abortion became the new national issue that we still see today between two opposing ideologies, grouped into sides coined as pro-life and pro-choice. It is one of the biggest debates over whose morals and beliefs are adequate for our society that make the abortion issue such a controversial and divisive one. Each side believes that their views and beliefs are what we are a society should follow and belief.
Abortion is a very controversial topic that has taken the main stage once again in US politics. Recently, new Republican politicians have taken power and have decided to ban abortion. There are two fields of ideas on abortion. One being that it is the murder of an innocent fetus, and that it is completely unethical. The second school of thought is that abortion is a right for women, and that it is ethical.
