From this letter you can see Tourgees clear use of the word “another” meaning that other Republican men were targeted and killed by the KKK all because they fought to have the South follow the same rules as the North. It was as though the KKK felt personally battered so they enjoyed doing to same to men that caused such emotions. Politics within the white community was not the only issue. As mentioned before African Americans did not get the political freedom that was actually granted to them not only because of their race and low standing but they were “ ‘unfitted for the proper exercise of political duties… blacks needed a period of probation and instruction’ “ (Document D). The idea of them being an unfit race who was in need of probation and instruction seemed to more closely relate to white Klansmen of the South.
• I’ve learned in this unit, three universal characteristics of a hero. One characteristic is some type of special powers not necessarily things like super strength or Flying but hospitality and friendliness or the will to help others could be considered special powers or something even greater to save the day. Also, hero's lineage is often noble or linked to the gods meaning their family history is a heroic one. Lastly Hero's tending to be adventurous and strong they and often times are born this way. 2.
From the beginning of Colin Powell’s life he has made many great choices that have greatly affected the outcome of his life. For example , he earned many awards for his bravery and service to his country. Some people called him an American leader because of the great choices. His great choices have affected not only his life , but other people’s lives too. Others may argue that he was not a great American leader. Some think that it was just luck or that the government was desperate and had to have a Secretary of State so they just selected Colin Powell.
However, that is not the main dominant theme, but Troy Maxson is character, that reminded the culture dscrimination has taken place for humankind in America. That is the big problem, affected strongly to the thought of human life, especially African-American community. Troy’s son Cory is being attent to be a player for football team and he becomes a Marine Corp after the struggling conflict between Troy and Cory. And Troy´s complaining
One subject that is always being contemplated on is the media 's double standard when it comes to minorities. When Caucasian people have a riot it is not really talked down on because, it happens after games are lost in sports. However, when African Americans protest after a horrible event, they are looked down on and instead of it being called a protest on injustices, the media makes it seem like it is a riot over nothing and African Americans are just acting out. like what a man named Steven Crowder did on his blog. Instead of looking into the real reason blacks were rioting.
This is the big question of all to me about segregation, if segregation stops then how will the country be. Also how would others react to this conflict not just in the United States but out of the whole world with having segregation.”Sports today does not have many problems with racism but back in the past there were a lot and it was terrible on how they treated african-americans that knew how to play.” (Monika Stodolska, Kimberly Shinew, Myron Floyd, and Gordon Walker)This statement disturbs me when I read it because our African Americans could not play sports that they are good at jus because of their
Fellow African-American NFL football player responded to this controversy in an unexpected manner and goes on to said “…ultimately the problem is not a skin problem, but a sin problem. Sin is the reason we rebel against authority” (Benjamin Watson). With Watson, a professional competitive athlete showing how racism isn’t a problem in sports goes on to say how much media is hyping up racial stories to gain more popularity, when in reality racism shouldn’t even be brought up in the sports environment any
For example, a very influential football player Colin Kaepernick stated that he will not stand for the national anthem until the flags represents what it should represent. He is doing this to bring awareness to the Black Lives Matter movement. Kaepernick believes that the racial inequality in our country is not good and he won’t stand for the national anthem until the issue is resolved. However, the way he is choosing to bring attention to his topic is interrupting peace and insulting the United States. He is encouraging and motivating the Black Lives Matter group even though they result in creating conflict and mayhem in our country involving the police. Colin Kaepernick can find other ways to bring attention to a belief of his.
It still is a major problem in the world today. Many people try to convince themselves that racism no longer exists but it does. Each race is different, but being different doesn 't make you better. No one is born a racist it is learned behavior. Racism occurs everywhere, it happens in schools, the streets, at jobs, homes, and within police departments.
Police brutality is a big issue in this country. “Alex Landau, an African-American man, recalls how he was raised by his adoptive white parents to believe that skin color didn’t matter. But when he was pulled over by Denver police officers in 2009, he lost his belief in a colorblind world when he was nearly beaten to death.” ("I Was Almost Another Dead Black Male": Denver Teen Recalls Police Beating After 2009 Traffic Stop”) America is having a lot of trouble with today’s government. Many people agree that the government is unjust and is not as free as stated. Although American citizens get a lot of freedoms, politically our country is unfair.
