According to the New York Times, “That’s because the pernicious social dynamics of these online spaces hammer home the idea that anyone who disagrees with you on any controversial subject, even a little bit, is incorrigibly dumb or evil or suspect. With a wide and expanding range of issues, there’s no such thing as good-faith disagreement. People are more capable of arguing their point through social media rather than face to face. This shows that people let social media take over them. People get so caught up in random topics and have the belief they are correct. However, it does not matter whether they are right or wrong, it matters how people argue their point. People are so quick to jump conclusions that they forget to provide their reasoning with evidence. Social media is making everyone argue over things that should not be argued. Thus, it makes people seem unintelligent by the way social media changed them. In today’s society, kids are so quick to jump to conclusions that they begin to slack off in school. As young adults today it is more important than ever to be a part of this community.” People act quickly to be accepted by society. The fastest and easiest way to become accepted by society is through social media. There is a very large population, which allows individuals to post what they desire and gain attention from the whole population. The attention people get through social media has allowed people to express themselves and meet new people and cause friendships. As some people believe social media allows kids to express their individuality and make friendships, some disagree and think social media does not always have a positive outcome like everyone thinks. In a recent article,”No matter how careful you or your children are with privacy settings, i can be hard to completely remove the risk of cyber bullying. Children may be able to gain acceptance and make friends from posts on social media, but people do not realize the outcome does not always end up positive. The way people look at each other based on self- expression is either positive or negative bases on their own opinion. Based on negative opinions, self-expression on social media is not the best way to gain acceptance. Not everyone gets acceptance which leads to concerning issues like cyberbullying.
