We chose to visit the Islamic Civilization museum, located in Sharjah in the Heritage and arts area. Sharjah has been elected in 2014 the capital of Islamic culture in the Arab world, so it is an emirate that really wants to show its significant role in the global culture scene.
Sharjah contributed to Islamic and human culture through the interest of its wise leadership in all fields such as science, culture, literature and arts.
Culture enthusiast can learn more in Sharjah’s University City, which is an area of the emirate comprised of many different universities where they conduct numerous scientific research in their facilities such as libraries and archaeological centers.

Thus, Islamic civilization is based on unity, which stands completely against any racial or ethnic discrimination. Such major racial and ethnic groups as Arabs, Persians, Turks, Africans, Indians, Chinese and Malays in addition to numerous smaller units embraced Islam and contributed to the building of Islamic civilization.
Mosques can nowadays be found all over the world and we saw during the visit at the museum different types of mosques in different countries. Since praying five times a day is one of the pillars to Islam, many Muslims constantly go to the mosque and especially for the Friday prayer. That is why it is necessary in all Muslim countries to have many mosques close to where people live so that they can accomplish their prayers there and listen to the Imam, who is the worship leader of a mosque and Muslim community.

It is a beautiful gold-domed building that was transformed from a traditional covered market to a museum in 2008. It is a place where we get to learn about Islamic faith and science and examine over 5,000 beautiful art crafts and rare manuscripts from the Islamic world.
There, we saw many different galleries with different themes.
On the ground floor, we visited the Abu Bakr Gallery of Islamic Faith. It is where we found many different Quran manuscripts, principles of the five pillars of Islam and a very beautiful Kiswah, which is a heavy cloth of black silk lined with cotton and embroidered with gold and silver threads that cover the Ka’ba. It dates from the pre-Islamic times. We also saw there the incredible collection of pictures of mosques from all around the world and got to learn facts about their different architectures. We then went to visit a second gallery which is the Ibn Al-Haytham Gallery of Science and Technology. This gallery shows how Islamic civilization expanded the knowledge on science and how much findings and evolution was done in the Islamic era. During the Islamic Golden Age, science, economic development, and cultural works flourished in the Islamic world. As they spread to civilizations, such as Greece, Rome, and India, Muslims assimilated, advanced, and applied those cultures’ scholarships. They read books and built their knowledge to the point where they could make their own discoveries. They built a strong trading empire by using scientific instruments and the night sky to guide them, and they had access to plenty of resources and goods. These advancements affected numerous fields in their own society and, eventually, in European society.
Cities in the Muslim World were often political centers, economic center and areas of religious importance during the post classical period. The Muslim World was a place of political centers due to being the foundation of the religion of Islam. Once Islam was created they wanted to spread its religion and it spread to other places and these other countries became Muslim cities. The Muslim world also had economical centers because when Islam spread, they set up trade routes that boosted the economy. As the cities developed they became of religious importance as they built religious structures, all in the Muslim world.
The Islam religion, believed by Muslims, has spread across the globe at rapid speeds. Muhammad ibn Abdullah started the religion. The religion began in Mecca. The religion was made known in 610 CE. The two major themes of the religion are “Allah is the one God” and the importance of charity.

The Ottoman and Mughal empires both used Islam in their culture, economy, wars, and society. It influenced their art, the way they treated non-Muslims, their motivations for war. It is important to note that both empires were influenced differently by their majority religion. However, both the Ottomans and Mughals were heavily influenced as Islam was a major part of everyday life from the art to the bureaucracy.

After the classical period the Islamic civilization showed an advancement in a variety of different aspects of their culture. They adopted a lot of it from earlier civilizations but had had a massive contribution on their part. The effect of this is that the Muslim culture and intellectual ideas were very long lasting. Response paper #1 Recently I took a tour of the James E. Lewis Museum of art located in Baltimore, MD. This museum is a part of Morgan State University fine arts building. As I walked into the museum I notice the beautiful entrance that consist of sculptures of very important people in history. In addition I was amazed by the infrastructure of the museum and the setup of the lighting in the museum.

Religion in the 21st century America has many roles for many different people. For some it is a sense of strength and identity and for others it is a way of life. When it comes to the Islamic culture, it is indeed a way of life. Islam is a faith and comprehensive way of life that means “peace through submission to God.” The Islamic faith provides its followers with a clear understanding of a person’s relationship with God, purpose in life and an ultimate destiny.
Challenge of modernization and globalization in the UAE society Introduction The UAE is renowned for its rich cultural heritage heavily manipulated by Arab and Islamic traditions. UNESCO has particularly acknowledged the Emirate of Sharjah as a fascinating emirate that has single handedly taken measures in protecting the rich cultural heritage of the Arabs. A classic example is anchoring the Dubai Shopping Festival in cultural values that are local and traditional. It should be noted that the primary aim of the festival is to attract tourists from all over the world.
