That was when the Mali empire converted into western Sudan to Islam and developed the city of Timbuktu and was the center of trade, Muslim religion, and education. Then other states/dynasties like: Berber, Songhay, Hausa, and Kanem-Bornu flourished, Berber began in the eleventh century C.E. and Songhay began in the fifteenth century C.E. Throughout the continent tribal cultures developed, hundreds of them, either being hunter gatherer groups like the nomads or more like farming groups, and developed distinct systems of trade, religion, and politics.
The Spread of Islamic Empire The Islamic empire had spread rapidly in its early years proved by sources. The Islamic empire expanded in many ways but an example is when Muslim empires took control of the eastern Roman Empire in 636 C.E. according to document A, “The Muslim gathered together”. By this it means, that Muslims stood together no matter what happened. An example is that in 713 CE a Muslim commander signed a treaty with forces invading the Christian king of the southern Spain.

The first voyage then led to a second voyage which they sponsored by that led to his discovery of several islands. and a third voyage which they had also sponsored.The third voyage was to discover new territories, on which he discovered series of islands. When they got married they created the Castile of Aragon which that formed the kingdom of Spain. They are also known for completing the Reconquista.The Reconquista is a movement that drives Muslims to Spain.
If it weren't for Isabella and Ferdinand, Christopher Columbus would have never set foot in North America. Ferdinand and Isabella were important people in the Renaissance they are strong, smart, and efficient powerful leaders. They ruled most of Spain they ruled the castles of Aragon and Castile together. They got married on October 19, 1469. Ferdinand and Isabella started the Spanish Inquisition, they united Spain's kingdoms, and sponsored Christopher Columbus in his voyage to North America.
Mansa Mūsā was an emperor of the West African empire of Mali. He ruled from 1307 to 1312 and did many remarkable things during his ruling such as building The Great Mosque at Timbuktu. In the Middle East and Europe, he is best known for his pilgrimage to Mecca in 1224. Sundiata, Mansa Mūsā’s grandson or great nephew, founded his dynasty and was also a West African monarch who founded western Sudanese empire of Mali. He lead the path for Mansa Mūsā to become emperor in 1312 and also helped him with his pilgrimage to Mecca in 1324.The world was awakened to the marvelous wealth of Mali due to the pilgrimage.

After about 140 years, many followers of Islam had created an empire that ruled the Middle East and spread across to North Africa to Europe. There are many reasons why Islam spread so fast, however the main three reasons was trade, winning battles, and treaties. Trade Routes was an important part of how Islam grew so fast.
