The Unites States was founded upon the, “principles of freedom, democracy, and rule of law that we work together,” (p. 1). Israel shares these same principles with the United States and has formed a relationship solely for supporting and maintaining these principles. Ali Abunimah points out that the United States is a hypocrite in how it continues to promotes itself as a country of freedom and equality, yet harbors inequalities covered up with “the war on drugs”. Instead of segregation and lynching, the United States imprisons and accuses individuals biasedly, based on stereotypes. Today, both Israel and the Unites States are working together to preserve the principles they were founded upon, but Israel is narrowly focused on freedom for the Jewish majority.

The reasoning being that when all attention was on caucasians, other ethnicities saw it as discrimination, and if all the attention is on the other ethnicities, that is discriminating the caucasians. When it comes to college acceptance, my family sees the preference given to other ethnicities, genders, and religions as an apology for prior discrimination. For colleges to be completely equal, scholarships shouldn’t be given based upon ethnicity, gender, or religion, but on personal achievements and academic successes. In attempt to regain equality, the United States continues to be biased, favoring certain ethnicities, genders, and religions at the expense of another. After reading the book, my position remains to that of my upbringing, but my mind has been exposed to contrasting opinions. I value being exposed to contrasting opinions on equality as I gain my independence and individual identity to establish my own
Many students attended the university felt unimportant and spoke out loudly about being isolated. During the cross-examination the university argued that African Americans, Hispanic, and Asian students were denied entry for not meeting college admission requirements, not because of race. In preparing the case both Fisher and the university prosecutors done an
Israel also is not lacking in terms of authority or expertise on this topic either. Israel seems to know what he’s talking about and knows where and when to give credit. Even after all it is taking to get something done he still doesn’t give up on what he believes in. Israel keeps trying to get what he wants done with gun laws even though it is taking forever and is a slow process, he never gives up. Eventually if he keeps on trying Israel will get his wish on gun laws.
While in the White House, President Truman was said to have been barraged with supporters of a Jewish state persuading and pressuring him to go in favor of the making of Israel. At the time, many countries including America did not want Jewish people living in their country. A couple were jealous of the success they were having on business. Even though many of us do not want to admit it, a lot of people know that the U.S. had a dark history of anti-semitism. Many Jews had wanted to come into the United States, but they were not allowed in because of the U.S. immigration quotas and even voted against letting Jews in America.
In the article, “The Truth about ‘holistic College Admissions”, Sara Harberson expresses how universities that are not allowed to use racial preferences on college admissions, are still devising strategies to work around the laws to produce the same result. Harberson states how the institutions are using what is called “holistic admissions”, which allows a college to factor in a student's background, race and income. By filtering out the minority groups, they are creating a less-diverse community, preventing students of certain backgrounds from a proper education, and taking away opportunities from students based on their ethnicity. Colleges are using racial segregation in the admission process so that they can have a white-favoring campus
”This is what is supposed to be in effect overall public schools and colleges. But discrimination is inevitable, not because of all the racist people out there, but because of the lack of opportunities to be aware of discrimination between races. Although the United States has come a very long way in race equality, there is still vast room for improvement among all
The author has a very implicit opinion on the matter; he believes that everyone has the same rights as each other under the constitution no matter their
Appreciating individuality and self worth is a victorious reckoning in a person 's life also shaping the course of their destiny. Equality was once indifferent compared to others and would suppress his hopes and desires to fit in. A pivotal change occurred in him when he accepted who he is and embraced it blocking out dismissive opinions. Nonetheless, he has established his own set of values which are influenced by his experiences. Equality has come such a long way in his personal development that he now identifies
Ultimately, ethnic studies promote American ideals, create identity, and only create contempt when being constrained from these courses. Ethnic studies should be implemented in schools, because they promote American ideals of diversity, inclusion, and freedom. In a place like America, where diversity is supposed to be the building block of our nation, one would think that different ethnic groups would have the right to study their own identity. Students question this in the film and make claims such as, “Education is so against me that they don’t want me.” Evidently, with the threat of abolishing ethnic studies courses, students feel a lack of inclusion, which defies American values.
I had familiarized myself with the history of the question of a Jewish homeland and the position of the British and the Arabs. I was skeptical, as I read over the whole record up to date, about some of the views and attitudes assumed by the “striped-pants boys” - the State Department (Truman, 1965). Clearly he did not agree with what his administration wanted to do. Truman would have been happy if the UN would solve the conflict, but that was not tangible. The UN was newly formed, but more importantly, no significant proposal could get past the General Assembly or the Security Council with American support.
With the Israel-Palestine conflict at its height of hostility, Jewish and Pro Israel students should get involve in reducing and preventing Anti-Semitism. To combat the growing Anti-Semitism, I am certain to involve myself with the Pro Israel association and include Pro Israel students, teachers, and administrators.
Truman’s role in the decision to recognise Israel has persuaded others that he is best viewed as a villain because he really did this as a political ploy to secure Jewish votes in a Presidential election. Following the aftermath of WW2 and the holocaust, many people sympathised with Jewish people and the horrors they faced, one of these people supposedly being Harry Truman, making his opinions known through the support of the creation of Israel and the recognition of it,
They claim, “...students of color are showing that they feel disconnected from their respective schools, that implicit yet institutionalized racism creates emotional distance between them and their white peers and faculty. Being a black student on a predominantly white campus certainly, doesn’t guarantee that the student will develop mental-health issues. However, various studies suggest that perceived or actual discrimination can make it hard for students of color to engage with their campus in the way that their white peers do.” This explains how students sometimes feel like they don’t get enough support from their universities and this is dangerous because it can lead that student to drop out of school.

As far as morality and justice are concerned, if a school or business or government declines to practice affirmative action, that’s okay” – says the
Throughout many of the affirmative action legal cases, one of the main arguments from proponents is that it is necessary in order to right the wrongs of past racial discrimination. Some say that affirmative action is justified because even though white applicants may be more qualified, this is only because they did not face the same hardships as their minority counterparts (Rachels, Ethics, 1973). Many argue if we do not integrate disadvantaged minorities into mainstream social institutions, they will continue to suffer the discrimination that has plagued our country for centuries and that this is detrimental to not only the minorities but also society as a whole (Anderson, 2002, 1270–71). However, the debate has recently shifted to the benefits of diversity in the classroom which the Supreme Court has affirmed as being a positive thing
