The Assyrians showed little sympathy to the conquered and promoted terror throughout the empire (“Rise of Empires Assyria and Persia” slide 18). The Assyrians controlled conquered states through strategies of enforced migration and taxation. They believed that the best way to prevent any future uprising was to remove the former occupants of the land and replace them with Assyrians (“Rise of Empires Assyria and Persia” slide 24). This led to a loss of individuality that steered opposition to lose will to fight against the Assyrians. The people that were deported were selectively chosen for their capabilities and sent to areas which could make the most of their abilities.
Shi Huangdi was a strong supporter of legalism which caused him to oppress his people. He would punish his people in inhumane ways such as murdering them. In Document Set 3 source B, it shows scholars being executed and their books being burnt, so that there was one central power. Shi Huangdi didn’t want anyone going against him or the laws so he’d penalize people very harshly.
Two main themes are human rights and religion (Themes and Construction). Throughout the book, Stowe is trying to explain to the reader how everyone should be treated equally, and that slavery is wrong. She gives the reader many different ideas of what a slave master was like by showing us the different punishments bestowed upon slaves (Cindy Weinstein). This quote represents what Stowe was trying to prove to her readers- that slavery is wrong and everyone should be treated equally. This quote is said by the slave owner who ends up beating Uncle Tom to death, “I hate him!”
The Emperor Jones use rhetorical devices to express to their audience that in order to make social progress, we must dissolve these racial and cultural walls we have built around us, instead construct a homogeneous society. The works include a stress on the past. Through various visions of his past, Brutus Jones begins to realize the type of person he has become. Not only did he murder a man over a game of crap, but he also abandoned his culture completely and began exploiting it.
First Samuel 8:10-18 explains the warnings of the king to come; this includes the result of the kind reigning over the people and taking much of their belongings. The king explained will give jobs to the people as servants and make them do as he says. Basically, the king will come in and take a tithe of everything the people under him have and they will cry out to God for relief, but He will not immediately bring any. The story of King Solomon unfolds in the book of First Kings, chapters one through eleven. First, the kingship of Solomon was birthed in the lie and deception of Bathsheba, obviously violating the rule of being chosen by God.
Pyramids were not only secluded to Egypt, but rather expanded far across the world in varying time periods. The basic form of the pyramids was discovered in Peru as mounds of earth compacted into a temple. Much later, many more were built in Central America by the Olmec, Aztec, and Maya ("Pyramids," 2001). All of the societies that built pyramids had some-sort of polytheistic beliefs, where building this structures brought them closer to their god. The influence this had on the world was extraordinary and allowed for a stronger sense of community
Killing Jesus focused on how the environment reacted to Jesus’s radical teachings and blasphemous behavior. O’Reilly placed the spotlight on the Sanhedrin and the Roman government. The Sanhedrin was repulsed by Jesus’s claim to be the Son of God and Roman officials were bothered by the “King of the Jews.” Jesus was fighting the system that was in place and his action were radical and unheard of for his time. He was purposely putting himself in the way of danger in order to make a change.
Slavery is wicked and gory and monstrous and that is well known today but during the time it was well known. In Frederick Douglass’s, Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass, Douglass tries to persuade everyone to stop the madness and recognize how awful slavery is; to do this he uses comparison and realization leading to the reader being blown away by this one slave’s life story. The goal of Douglass’s writing makes the reader see slavery in a different light. This is why Douglass’s writing is such a heavy read. To get his point across he talks about how monstrous his whole life is, starting for the very beginning when “... the child has reached its twelfth month, its mother is taken from it” (Douglass 1.4) Douglass had to go through

As slavery became free in the north this soon disrupted the founding fathers beliefs of what slavery should be and this dismantled the nations stability to the core. Slaves were always beaten for any punishment to keep them in line. The founding fathers like this due to they can control the slaves out of fear. By corporal punishment spreading across America to the whites it was also the biggest thing slaves had that they were valuable to a point more Valuable than some white people which the founding fathers hated. They hated this because According to Russell he names several slaves that had killed their masters for over beating them and the resistant slaves a lot of the time was allowed to live sometime they weren’t even beaten (Pg.61-62).
Anti-Semitism and Discrimination of the Jewish People Before and Leading up to WW1 Anti-Semitism in the dictionary means hostility to or prejudice against Jews. It has been a problem for the Jewish people ever since the times of the Egyptian Pharaoh’s and there on to about World War 2. The Pharaohs believed that the rapid growth of the Israelite people was a problem waiting to happen because they were thought to side with Egypt’s enemies. The Jewish people do not have a place to call their own so they become parts of other nations.
God used the Babylonian empire, under the leadership of King Nebuchadnezzar, to conquer Judah, and lead the Jewish people captive to Babylon during three deportations, 605 B.C., 597 B.C., and 586 B.C. God determined that the Jewish people would remain in captivity for 70 years (cf. Jer. 25:11; 29:10) for failure to adhere to the mandated land Sabbaths that occurred over 490 years (2 Chron. 36:21). When the 70 years were completed, God began His sovereign plan to bring His people back to the Promised Land and commence building the second temple (2 Chron. 36:22-23; Jer. 29:10; Ezra 1).
The Berlin Conference is an example of leaders coming together to form political boundaries. Since this happened it shows how many things were affected. This includes people, countries, resources found in that place. The biggest thing is it has a large affect on the future of everyone and everything. Before discussing how it really affected things, I’ll say why people decide to make political boundaries in the first place.
Major Primary Source Paper: Koran This paper will be discussing the Koran and specific questions about how The Koran, Hebrew scripture and the Bible relate to a specific section of the Koran. The specific section being pages 204, 205 and 208. The Koran is a religious text written almost 1500 years ago. It was written down by the prophet Mohammed.
