The city of Las Vegas has changed rapidly from becoming a beautiful city to a violent place to live in. The city has seemed a rise in homicides as well in the last few years. The strong presences of these gangs are taking innocent lives and making the community a harder place to raise a family in. Many of the gangs in Vegas account for most the drug trade, as well as the staggering homicide rate. The gang problem is not only a problem in Las Vegas, but it is all over the world.
“Racial Profiling” In recent years racial profile has been the buzz word. So what is racial profiling? Racial profiling is using the race of an individual or ethnicity by law enforcement as factor in the decision whether to engage in the enforcement of the law. The allegations are cops are targeting minorities, seemingly people of Africa decent more than any other race. I have been accused of racism many times in the past with little to no provocation.
As a result, if a crime is committed in the Hispanic or foreign communities, no one will be willing to help the authorities because they fear being prosecuted themselves. This scenario leads to a domino effect which can cause more corruption in the community. Criminals will then have no limit to the crimes they can commit, due to no one willing to testify in fear of getting in
Slavery is illegal in just about every country in the world except five; India, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Uzbekistan. “Sex trafficking is a form of modern slavery that exists throughout the United States and globally(“Sex Trafficking.” Polaris,).” This is a major problem because slavery should not even be an issue anymore. It should have been eradicated a long time ago but the demand is so high for sexual stimulation these days that it continues to rise. It causes major physical and emotional problems to all of the victims. “Most live under constant mental and physical threat.
The 2nd amendment of the United States is ¨The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.¨ This statement plainly states that every American has the right to bear arms, there are no other possible interpretations of this amendment that make any logical understanding. The rights cannot be violated because the Government deems it to be politically incorrect, The rights of the people are not being read broadly enough and the misinterpretation leads to ignorance and irrational fear of firearms. ( Ferrara, 1) The District of Columbia´s ban on firearms is totally unconstitutional and a violation of American Liberty. The Mayor, Adrian Fenty argues that since the ban crime rates have dropped; This is a complete fallacy. Since the 1976 ban murder
It seems like all you see on TV today is about police and Racial Profiling. Police have always been accused of racial profiling but now that social media and the media is involved it has added fire into the pot that has led to law enforcement to have a bad name which is not fair to all the cop there who don’t do racial profiling. The media and social media have gather the attention of everyone with the black lives matter movement the black live matter movement started when an officer shot and killed a black male and has continue and has kept growing every since. for suspicion of crime based on the individual 's race, ethnicity, religion or national origin. Criminal profiling, generally, as practiced by police, is the reliance on a group of
The belief that vigilantism is justifiable becomes reinforced by pop culture, through Batman, Dexter and Died Hard. The fact that there are more criminals the police officers, and more crimes than the system can handle, persists in the human conscious. Pseudo vigilantism also finds a clash, between actual police and civilian vigilantes. In Seattle, Phoenix Jones dresses up in black tights and dons a red mask to protect his city, but Jones is routinely arrested and has even gone to trial for assault (Moore, 2009). George Zimmerman’s trial was national headlines for weeks, as the legality of his vigilantism was debated.
Racial minorities in America face discrimination despite the effort for equal rights. From the color of your skin, to the way you dress, to your religion. Even though America has progressed significantly after a few decades, people are constantly being discriminated in America for minimal reasons. Racism exists everywhere, all around actually. Even in our criminal legal system, a man of color is 6 times as likely to be convicted, and a Hispanic is 2.3 times more likely.
There are now laws set up to protect minorities from discrimination. Even though there are laws set up people still have freedom of speech. People still kill and hurt people because of their race. Racist groups are allowed to gather and say hateful things together in public places. The KKK holds a gathering every year in downtown Cleveland.
No one should have to be in that state because of their skin color. Assumptions can lead to false statements about someone which could very much ruin a future or chance of one. However, we have these labels for a reason, where it might be because it happens a lot in the certain racial group or just made up. But, that gives no reason to make everyone be thought of that way. People would have to start the change against these labels.
