It is Time

A story about a man retelling his great-grandfather’s story about a family’s disappearance.

Some speculated to the Harriman family’s disappearance for years; even though one knew the truth behind their vanishing. My great-grandpa was the man. He saw the event transpire the November night. He told the authorities of what he had seen and was immediately sent away to an asylum.
The moment of his release, my great-grandpa was warned to never speak of the night again. He retired to a quiet life, marry, and had children and his children had their own children. He lived to be ninety-five and on his deathbed. He broke the promise he had made over seventy plus years ago.
With his family at his side, he told a bizarre tale that at the time gave me nightmares.
“I know you all have heard the rumors, which follow our family.” My grandpa rose to a sitting position and patted the empty space on his bed. I, along with the rest of the great-grandchildren climb up and sat right beside him. “I know what I saw,” he began in a hoarse voice. “Your father—your grandpa, was not crazy nor was I one of them, who believe somethings lurk in the night.”

Inside were newspaper articles dated from the late forties—early sixties. I stare at the big and bold letters on the one from 1947. It read: RAAF Captures Flying Saucer on Ranch in Roswell Region. The other article was from 1963, which read: An Intelligence Officer and his family have gone missing, along with several radios and military grade equipment. I pick up another article. To sum the article: John Brazel, grandson of William Brazel, the infamous foreman who found the Roswell wreckage.
