Jacques Cartier was born on December 31, 1941 in St Malo, France. In Cartier’s early life his father and uncle’s were probably sailors and they taught him how to sail. Quebec was in Canada and in the continent North America. He explored Quebec in 1535. He got there and it was very cold. When he reached Quebec he tried to find gold and diamonds but he failed. He thought he found gold and gems but it was actually quartz crystals. Because of this he returned to France. The king was not happy and he did not pay for another expedition. The effect of this exploration is when he explored the St Lawrence river he made it able for France to claim parts of Canada. When he met with the Native Americans they liked each other. Norsemen were the first settlers of Canada between the 9th and 10th century. Raids and continuous migration drove away the Scandinavian from their homeland. The country would not be discovered again till 1534 by Jacques Cartier. Cartier discovered Canada on his second voyage and found an alternative path that led to Canada. Fast forward to the transcontinental railroad era, the colonies Nova Scotia, News Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island were divided and the nation needed to be reformed.
Sir Francis Drake’s anger and hatred toward the Spanish continued and was displayed after he was accepted by England. Once relations between England and Spain had grown tense, Queen Elizabeth funded an expedition captained by Francis Drake in the Spanish Main. Francis Drake was given control of 25 naval vessels, with which he captured Santo Domingo, Cartagena in Venezuela, and St Augustine in Florida (Konstam 65). This expedition displayed Francis Drake’s hatred against Spain since he was willing to come out of hiding to capture cities for the very people who forced him into hiding for doing what they now requested of him. Sir Francis Drake’s prejudice against Spain caused him to carry out a final devastating attack against Spain.
This land was the Louisiana land which the president Thomas Jefferson had recently bought. During this expedition they found out many things environment. For example, they found new plants and animals. In addition to this they also made maps with exact locations so people could travel. Their objective was just to find a connected waterway from the Missouri River to the Pacific Ocean but on the journey they found these other things.

He had set on his fourth voyage with his son John, Robert, and his crew, they were aboard the ship “Discovery” they had set out to sea navigating into an inlet into northern Canada In July 1610 they sailed into Hudson Bay. After several months, winter had came and The Hudson Bay had filled with ice leaving them with no escape. The crew had no choice but to drop anchor, and stay until the bay cleared of ice.

Unfortunately, he lost his seat in the Assembly alongside of many supporters of Confederation that were driven out of the office in 1865 election. He returned to the Assembly during the 1866 by-election. His 1866’s campaign was very imprecise, promoting New Brunswickers to be for and against Confederation. However, once he entered the office, he became the key figure for a creation of a new nation.

Thinking he found the way to east, he went on three voyages through the St. Lawrence before deciding that it was not the way to the East. His first voyage was forced to close when a storm hit. His crew became sick with scurvy on the second, and they had to stay with a friendly Indian tribe while over half his crew suffered and died.
