CHAPTER THREE
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
3.1 Introduction
The methodology for this study will take into account of all the techniques and practices to give the research both internal and external validity. There is various research strategies developed for several types of research, depending on the philosophical and theoretical orientation, objectives and rational of that specific research and most prominently the type of research questions the study planned to answer.
The chapter looks at the research methodology of the study and explains how the study was conducted. It has sub-headings which contains the research design, the study population, sample and sampling procedure, data collection instrument, sources of data, data collection procedure

p 141). The study strategy is determined mainly by the research question and the aims of the study along with the existing literature. Normally, this study is non-experimental but a descriptive survey to examine the effectiveness of internal control systems in two four stars hotels in Mauritius. Saunders, Lewis and Thornhill (2009) argued that survey technique is a prevalent and common strategy in business and management research and it is likely to be used for exploratory and descriptive study. The strategy depends on on selective explanation where certain features of the population or phenomena of concern are considered acute for the research. With this, employees of Jalsa Beach Hotel and Radisson Blu Poste Lafayette Hotel were chosen based on their experience and a detailed analysis performed so as to assess the effectiveness of internal control in the hotels industry with the emphasis on Jalsa Beach Hotel and Radisson Blu Poste Lafayette Hotel as case …show more content…
Respondents for the study were selected primarily on the basis of their positions and roles in the company which comprises Top Management employees, senior and junior employees. The sample size chosen for the study was ……. of which …… respondents from Jalsa Beach Hotel (…..males, ……females) and ……. respondents from Radisson Blu Poste Lafayette (…….males, …..females).
3.6 Sources of Data
The sources of data for the study were primary and secondary sources. The primary sources of data were data collected in the arena using the questionnaire and that of secondary sources were acquired from books, journals and articles and the internet.
3.7 Ethics and Gaining Access
The entire research was conducted by ethical concerns. The nature of the study shows that very important data was required from the respondent so that to get precise data. Over the last years, importance about the ethics of research practice has increased (Saunders, Lewis, Thornhill, 2009, p 168). Gaining access to the Hotels in the hospitality industry is a key to the achievement of the study. Although research have revealed that respondents tend to hide some information when the purpose of the study is made known to them, This study at the end of the exercise organize debriefing to describe why they were not explained about certain
As a result of searching the existing literature, the researcher was able to obtain data that correlated exceptionally well with the research topic. Indeed, the researcher gathered pertinent information from secondary sources; however, the primary sources of data were needed to draw a logical conclusion of the research at hand. So, the next step was major section III, Research Methodology. Being
One is to “articulate the research problem and objectives”. Two is to “develop the overall research plan”. Three is to “collect the data or information”. Four is to “analyze the data or information”. Five is to “present or disseminate the findings”.

Introduction Chapter three will provide the reader with research methods and procedures that were used to conduct this thesis. The research methods and procedure section will be described in details how the student researcher obtained the data. Research Methods and Procedures The significant aspect of the research process consists of various peer reviewed research journals, published books and web based news articles. All of the sources gathered to compose this thesis were within the last five years, on what prior researchers have done regarding recruiting Asian-American police applicants.

Moreover, it might require a constant responsibility to, and reflection upon individual qualities and moral practices that impact ethical choice making. Moral courage must be produced and fortified through general application. It is noted that healthcare experts need to perceive their obligation to address unethical practices in the work environment. At the point when attendants are guided in creating moral courage, they come to learn and grab hold of new practices, for example, making a move when unethical practices are observed.
Robert J. Sternberg is a professor of Psychology and vice president at Oklahoma State University. Sternberg states, “To act ethical, individuals must go through a series of steps”. He presupposes teaching these 8 steps is just as important as teaching students how to pass a test. Numerous of dilemmas proceeding in establishments are not generated the by absences of knowledge, but because of the lack of ethics. People may apprehend the rules of being ethical but are unable translate into their everyday lives.
There are different strategies that must be considered by the organisations operating in hospitality industry. The contributions made by the firm donate towards the performance and achievement of the company. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the strategies of the hotel, which serves as the basis of success. This paper is divided into five different tasks each of which is focusing on various aspects of the hotels performance. The organisation that is selected in order to answer the tasks is InterContinental Hotel Group.
To follow the company expansion goals, the company buy a small chain of hotels in France. The strategy is to keep part of this and rebrand it as the one already owned, and the other part to be sold in order to support the company projects development (Robson, 2008). And as the human resources are one of the most important assets of any company, they need to evaluate the approach they will have when hiring. Brunt Hotel management decided to use an ethnocentric approach, which means that they will send abroad some of the existing UK managers to follow the changes that need to be done and manage them once the hotels are ready to operate. The headquarters leaders will follow all this process and if will be a success they will search to expand in other European countries too (Robson,
The literature review gives justified information for the need of conducting the research. Apart from the introduction, there is no other information concerning the research title that could offer detailed information (Chaliha et a., 2001). Despite giving the justified information in the introduction section the paper should have had the literature review section, thus it did not follow the due steps and format of a research paper. The methodology part follows after the introduction and it discloses the methods used, the design, the people included in the study and how the data was sampled and examined. However, the reasons for choosing the design in the research were not
Every industry to include the hospitality industry is impacted by external factors which directly influence organizational behavior and decision making. There are numerous factors to be considered, but political, economic, and social are three of the most influential. These outside factors sway managerial operational decisions daily regarding personnel, spending, policy, and short-term and long-term strategic planning concerning both core and exterior operations. As within every industry, the hospitality industry has unmanageable elements that affect management or ownership of hospitality establishments (Lewis 2017). Understanding these factors is important because it provides an opportunity for contingency planning (Lewis, 2017).
Business ethics also referred to as corporate ethics can be considered as either a form of applied ethics or professional ethics. Its purpose is to analyse ethical principles and also moral as well as the ethical problems that might arise in a business environment. Business ethic is applicable to all parts of business conduct and also takes into consideration the conduct of individuals and the business organizations as a whole. Business ethics can be divided into normative and descriptive discipline. For the purpose of this assignment, the Nestle Company has been chosen.
The term Research Methodology refers to a set of procedures, methods & techniques that are put together by the researchers to obtain a solution to the problems they confront during the collection of data. The researchers look for the most crucial data which is inevitable for the research. Generally there are three kinds of approaches or research methods namely Qualitative, Quantitative and Mixed. These methods are used to gather data and resolve issues that emerge during the process of data gathering. The researcher can bring forward his findings either in the form of quantitative or qualitative or mixed research methodologies only when the data is collected based on the preliminary data gathering process and the secondary data gathering process.
Secondly, a methodology that describes the collection of data included together with highlights of limitations and thirdly key findings analysed and interpreted followed by some useful recommendations. Finally some future directions for research have been
