Polk ability to negotiate with other countries like england and new mexico and get Oregon and California this demonstrates why he is viewed as a successful president. But to gain Texas the United States had to fight mexico in a 2 year war from 1846-48 which the united states did end up winning but despite winning Texas this would prove to be a problem with the north and south fighting over the southern land. No matter if it was occupied or his determination to not be afraid to go get land is seen as something that I have not seen in any other presidents terms. Because of this he is seen as one of the most successful presidents in United States history because of how he was able Oregon County the place that was majority occupied by the British. His ability to command American troops and give them the motivation to take over occupied land for something that was unmatched by any other president. Because of this Polk was able to gain more and more territory and being more and more hungry for land for the american people and to make sure they were entitled to what they had and what they wanted. “The world has nothing to fear from military ambition in our Government” - James Polk this quote is important because it relates to the fact that the he has no shame in his government, and clarifies how ambitious ,he is going to be to get as much land as he wants. Examples like this are one of the many reasons polk should be viewed as the most successful president of all
After resigning from Congress, in 1839 , Polk ran for governor of Tennessee. After that Polk finally became president. He was a hard working individual, that is why he was so successful during term as U.S president. Polk is most well known for the fact that he is the only President to have planed out a set of goals in his first term and leave office having accomplished them. Polk had set out four major goals: reduce tariffs, have an independent U.S. Treasury, secure
The first reason andrew jackson became a successful president is due to his military successes. Supporting sentences Andrew Jackson was appointed commander of the tennessee militia and during the war of 1812 led his army against the creek indians at horseshoe bend killing 800 warriors and producing 20 million acres of land in present day georgia and alabama after was appointed major general. Defeats the british at the battle
However, one notable position Douglas did not hold was that of president, despite his many great achievements in his other places of office. Douglas is famous for his many achievements during his time in office in Congress especially. He fought for the Compromise of 1850, which helped to balance slave with free states, by admitting California to the Union as a free state, and Utah and New Mexico would decide for themselves free

“Failures have been errors in judgement, not of intent,” said Ulysses S. Grant in his final state of union address as the 18th president of the United states. Ulysses S. Grant was one of the most famous people in America during the late 19th century, second only to Abraham Lincoln. He is known for leading the United States through the civil war, eventually winning the war for the northern states against the Confederacy. After winning the war, he became the eighteenth president of the United States. Growing up in Ohio, he was sent to West Point, where he learned how to be a good commander.
Hello, Brandon~~ Your choice topic is interesting to me, because I didn’t know about him before. Also, I think he compared to his accomplishments as a president of the United States, its reputation is lesser to other presidents. Some people considering James K. Polk was the last of the Jacksonians in the White House as well as the first "dark horse" President, and the last tough President until the Civil War (James K. Polk, 2014).
Now, I do not agree with most of Polk’s policies, or even his beliefs and values. As a pre-Civil War President, he was most likely a racist and prejudiced old man. However, I admire his tenacity and work ethic. He was able to pull congress together to see his plans through. In today’s government, America is stagnate,
Overall, Cleveland's second term was a confusing and loud period in history marked by crisis, labor messes, and foreign policy challenges. His leadership during this period showcased the best of himself as a political figure. I chose Grover Cleveland for my project because it interested me how insignificant his presidency seems to be but actually is the opposite. Cleveland won his first presidential election by one of the narrowest of margins, it was a win by just 1,200 votes in his adopted home state, New York. Cleveland often said “what is the use of being elected or re-elected unless you stand for something”.
\ President James Polk, for keeping his word throughout his presidency, through the expansion “manifest destiny”, President Polk receives the presidential rating of four. The president does an outstanding job of his conquest for “manifest destiny”, and leading our country from coast to coast. James Polk was a very fierce leader, he was willing to go and fight any war in order for us to own land from coast to coast. Throughout James Polk’s presidency he had four goals the first one I have already stated, James Polk was going to acquire the land from coast to coast. Another goal that he had was to lower the tariff rate.
“No president who performs his duties faithfully and conscientiously can have any leisure” (Shattan, 32). Polk's presidency (A forgotten one) has impacted America in a variety of positive ways because Polk was determined and a workaholic. President Polk, considered one of the “higher quality” presidencies has been long forgotten for no apparent reason. This man has accomplished a great deal during the four years he served this country. The 11th president of the United states impacted America positively with his exceptional leadership and diplomatic astuteness.
Andrew Jackson was one of the greatest presidents who made very difficult decisions for our country. Although his choices were not always the popular decision, he made choices that were always promoting democracy. The things that make a good democracy are: giving people a say in government, having a good leader that you can trust to make wise decisions, peace and stability between each country and other states, and having equal power in the government (checks and balances). Andrew Jackson came into office with a popular vote and great support. His supporters viewed him as a man of the people.
The time has come to make a judgement of the great Andrew Jackson, the 7th president of the United States from 1829~1837. Although some people didn’t like Jackson very well due to very few of his decisions, he made many good decisions during his presidency. Andrew Jackson should be remembered as a hero of the common man due to his unifying leadership, generous approach of governing, and concern for economic equality. The first reason that Andrew Jackson should be remembered as a hero is because of his unifying leadership.
If he had not went to America to fight Sam Houston we would not have Texas. Also if he were not put into the place of being the interim President we would not be as big or strong of a country. Thanks to this we have a larger border than we already had with the Louisiana
Andrew jackson was a important cotributor and one of the most influential presidents to ever serve the country. He took on the countries domestic issues and used his executive power far to its extent. Jackson effectivly evicted the native americans which stopped the conflict between the colonists. He vetoed the second bank of america, terminating the recharter bill from ever becoming a law. Also, he avoided south carolina’s seceding from the union.
