Richard Courtney, a father of three from Surrey was rushed to the hospital after his electronic cigarette burst and spilled hot liquid nicotine down to his throat, burning a hole in his lung, according to MSN News. The man bought the $150 device to supposedly give up smoking.
E-cigs work by vaporizing a solution that usually contains nicotine, a substance found in a regular cigarette. The cartridge has liquid nicotine containing either propylene glycol or glycerine and water. When used, the liquid is heated up turning it into water vapor. It is generally considered to be a healthier substitute to traditional cigarettes, which are known for their harmful carcinogenic chemicals.
When asked, the man said that he started vaping in an attempt to quit smoking after 16 years. He can't believe it still has put him in hospital. Later that day, when he could

Meanwhile, it's not the first time that vaping has been linked to such incidents. In July, a man named James Lauria from Alabama had first-degree burns and a hole in the roof of his mouth after his e-cig "blew up" in his face. The man was also rushed to the hospital, where he spent a week in intensive care.
According to Fox 5 News, Lauria's father revealed his son had burns on his hand, a fractured neck and finger, and burns to his cornea. It blew a hole through his pallet, flames went down and he got first-degree burns on his chest and up to his face. It forced the front tooth up into his gum- out of sight - and impair a few other on his lower

While they are promoted as means to stop smoking, some experts have expressed concerns they may act as a "gateway" to harmful illicit drugs. Studies conducted had pointed out that while trying to diminish many of the toxic compounds in tobacco, e-cigarettes delivers a highly addictive "pure nicotine"
What’s the Deal With ‘Vaper’s Cough?’ Smokers must realize one thing about vaping: it is not the same as smoking a cigarette. If you have smoked for so long, your lungs have become used (to a certain extent) to the burning tobacco’s fumes. The ‘smoke’ that vapes pump out isn’t smoke from something that’s burned.
Most if not all e-cigarettes work the same way. On the inside there is a heating element, battery and a cartridge which holds nicotine as and other liquids that provide flavoring. By providing the user with nicotine, it eliminates cigarette smoke and provide the user with vapor instead. Many health expertss believe that e-cigarretes can prove to be especially beneficial to smokers and non smokers alike, due to the fact that it elimnates the need to utilzie tobbacoo which contains a hosyt of carcinogens which can cause cancers.
I struggle daily with foggy vision, a forgetful memory, and coughing. Vapes also serve as an “introductory product for youth who then go on to use other tobacco products” they are easy to use while driving and the good scent left allows teenagers to smoke like a chimney without thinking twice (National Institute). This is dangerous because minors will start something just because it tastes good or because it's cool and they will be stuck with a lifelong addiction that many warn you not to develop. These are all dangerous mixtures because going into the workforce with a foggy brain and an addiction that is nearly impossible will set you up for failure and a hard path of
Second hand smoking could also be a future danger with these as well as they were with regular cigarettes. Even though they may seem less dangerous, they still contain one of the most addictive parts of a cigarette, which is nicotine, and it will keep the user coming back to it. If the cartridges of juice that go in the e-cigarette comes in contact with skin or if it is ingested, then their are high chances of getting nicotine poisoning because of direct contact with the chemical. E-cigarettes also have been made with sweet or fruity flavors, and these kinds of things can entice young people to try e-cigarettes. These brought in so many young people that they needed to be heavily regulated.
The FDA adminestration tested that most e-cigrattes were toxic with multiple chemicals e-cigrattes even contain nicotine. On the other hand some FDA results claim that e-cigrattes aren 't as bad as regualr cigrattes. The problem of e-cigrattes is going to be handle im court to see if they should ban them
Electronic cigarettes are big issues. An electronic cigarette is a cartridge in the form of an ordinary cigarette battery powered and contains a mixture of liquids, including propylene glycol, glycerin plant materials, nicotine, and different flavors. Electronic cigarettes are long tube-like devices that look like traditional cigarettes; some of them resemble a ballpoint pen. Electronic cigarettes are either going to save millions of lives by helping people quit smoking, or they are going to destroy millions of lives by luring children and young people into the habit. Electronic cigarettes provide the smoker with an experience like cigarette smoking and help smokers to quit more easily.
Those substances can cause second hand vape to anyone near the vaper. Similar to secondhand smoke the second hand vape will affect anyone around the user. Another issue is that adolescents are swallowing the fluid from inside the flavor cartridges and they are being poisoned by it. “The amount of calls to poison centers with poisoning from e-cigarette liquids increased from one per month in September 2010 to 215 per month in February 2014. Over fifty percent were from toddlers and a heaping forty- two percent were from people over 20 years of age ”(CDC, 2014).Vaping can affect neurological development in adolescents especially with excessive
“Nicotine has known damaging effects: It’s addictive, toxic to developing fetuses and can harm brain development in children and young adults up to the age of 20” (Spector). This shows that when students introduce nicotine into their bodies at such a young age they can cause irreversible damage to their bodies that will hold them back from living a completely healthy life. “Propylene glycol, a chemical found in e-liquids, can irritate the eyes and airways... Early studies have also revealed that when propylene glycol or glycerin are heated and vaporized, they can degrade into formaldehyde and acetaldehyde... Both of these
Smoking cigarettes has increasingly lost popularity over the last few decades, tobacco ads were banned from television and a multitude of research has pointed at cigarettes as the cause of a myriad of cancers. On the rise however, is the use of the electronic cigarette or e-cig. The e-cig uses a battery driven heating element to vaporize a fluid generally made of “nicotine, propylene glycol, glycerine, water and flavourings” (Farsalinos et al, 2501) which when inhaled, delivers nicotine to the respiratory system. The assumption is that vaping is much safer than traditional tobacco cigarettes because the user is inhaling a water based vapor rather than smoke loaded with carcinogenic chemicals. The first patent records of electronic cigarettes appeared in the 1920s, however due to the FDA the idea stalled until 2003 when a Chinese company developed an e-cig with the intent of targeting smoking cessation.
Electronic cigarettes were first introduced into the tobacco market in 2003. However, in the last few years, electronic cigarettes have been trending, especially among high school students. According to the Surgeon General study, “In 2015, 1 in 6 high school students reported using e-cigarettes in the last month”. The promotion and production of electronic cigarettes is an issue that must be addressed because they are attracting minors who may have never been addicted to nicotine prior to the introduction of e-cigarettes in the market. Companies have branded e-cigarettes as a ‘safer’ alternative to regular cigarettes, however, it is quite possible that consumers, more specifically the youth, are not well informed of the ingredients in them.
These risks that those who vape take are serious conditions, but those who do the vaping aren’t the only ones susceptible to these conditions, those around them are also exposed to secondhand vaping which is just as bad as taking in the vapor directly from
According to The Washington Post just in one year from 2013-2014, the numbers of school students using e-cigarettes is tripled and it’s gone up 800 percent since 2011.Contrary to that This is because it is often portrayed as harmless and it is being sold in such kid-friendly options as coca-cola, candy, strawberry and many other flavors. This has raised fears in society as it is been decade, we tried to combating and decreasing the numbers of smokers (Dennis). Also, a research found that teenagers who used this device are 3 times more likely to smoke regular cigarettes compared to those who had never use this device as a lot of parents are fine with their children using this device and they are not aware of the danger of it (Spencer). Moreover, there is more report that children drinking the e-cigarette juice and become horribly ill. For example a case in New York where a toddler died after ingesting liquid nicotine intended for use in an e-cigarette as many parents unaware of the safety risks to children from unsafe storage of e-liquid.
I found that electronic cigarettes contains more chemicals than the normal cigarettes. I also found that these chemicals cause lung damage. Some other chemicals in the flavors in EC can be turned to addiction which is the same as the normal cigarettes which doesn’t make it any better. The EC started to affect people 's life and my friend was one of them. What happen encouraged me to start my research again and see what does EC contains to harm people 's
