In addition, at the age of twenty nine, Madison became the youngest member of the Continental Congress. He was short, soft spoken, shy young man that he shows that he can be a respected leader. For three years, he argued powerfully for legislation to strengthen the loose confederacy of former colonies, claiming that the military victory required to give power in a central government. The means of defense against foreign danger have been always the instruments of tyranny at home." This explains the idea he have to make the army 's defense better.
