Jane Austen was an English novelist, and is now considered one of the England´s greatest novelist. Her book are still enjoyed even today, and they are rarely out of print. She was born into a wealthy family of a clergymen on December 16, 1775, in a small village Steventon in Hampshire, England where she lived until 1800. Her family was at the lower end of the English hierarchical stratum which was known as the gentry, and it was situated beneath the nobility, she had five older brothers, one older sister and a younger brother. She started to write at a young age, and she read her first attempts at novel to her family. They were her first critics, as according to their response she enhanced the words. She grew up on a countryside as a member of a upper middle class society. Also her novel Pride and Prejudice is set among the English middle and upper classes and is set mainly at the countryside. She wrote about the problems, manners, situations and experiences of the class she knew, and was part of, as it was her only source of experience. She found this daily situations and circumstances of English gentry worth of analysis. In this novel she also pointed out many of its problems, as social differences , a low social status of women and a desire for a advantageous marriage. Problems of social class plays a big role in Pride and Prejudice. Society in the novel is organized to social classes , into which members of society belong according to their fortune and social prestige. The differences between members of social class are visible on many occasions throughout the book . One of the obvious example, is when Mr. Darcy came at the first ball, he didn´t dance with any young women, because he was too proud. It cannot be omitted that Mr. Darcy is from better social conditions, and he showed that the local young women were not good enough for him as he is from very wealthy family with good connections. He only danced with Mr. Bingley´s sister, as she belonged to the same class as
