Maloney is innocent would have you believe that she suffered from diminished capacity or was even insane. While it is true that she was emotionally unbalanced during this whole process, even laughing when the detectives ate the weapon; anyone would be shaken up by what she went through. And after suffering so much sorrow, anger, and shock, a small comment such as “I’m sure the weapon is right under our very noses,” might seem funny; especially since this quote is quite ironic for her current situation. They may also say that her hormones are causing her to be unable to control her actions, but this is untrue. Instead, they simply cause her emotions to be more extreme; the highs are higher and the lows are lower.
Vitality Kotyakov said that "Modern society highly values women 's beauty"(Analysis of Phenomenal Women By Maya Angelou). Women now put them selves down because they do not think about their inner beauty they only listen to what other people may say about them. This poem really explains how to have confidence in your self no matter how you look. In each stanza, her confidence is shown by her inner strength through
As Hester is appointed for adultery and admits to it, she is completely honest and doesn’t lie and straight forward with the townspeople. Hester Prynne is portrayed as a sinful character in the text but in reality she is a kind, strong, humble character in depth. As a main character, Hester is illustrated by sin but her true color is actually being humble. In the real world people get looked down upon if they cheat or have an affair just as Hester did. As
The first two line of the third stanza indicates that Keala send her haters “flood” when they were trying to insult her. By “drowning” them, it allowed her to be oneself because there will be no one else to ask her to do what she doesn’t wish to. Referring to that, she had shaped into a better person with confidence that doesn’t live up to people’s requirements. Evidence can be found in line 15, “And I'm marching on to the beat I drum” (Settle, 15) This can be seen as Keala living the way she desires and following the footstep that she set. She also added that she is not afraid to how the society views her as she has confidence in herself.
Louise is hopeful, positive, and an individual whom had to leave home. Throughout the story and letters, Louise was hopeful. In Dear Miss Breed, in page 3, line 9 it says, “It was too terrible to witness the pain in people’s faces, too shameful for them to be seen in this degrading situation.” It shows how Louise can’t stand the gloomy setting and she tries to be happy, positive, and hopeful. Throughout the story, page 4, line 28, she writes, “You never realize how valuable a thing is until you experience it.” This shows the hopefulness Louise has. She isn’t let down by the lack of protection she has by being outside, but she thinks about all valuable things she has at the moment.
Franny tries to play the role of a good girlfriend listening and paying attention to what her boyfriend Lane has to say, but there bickering at one other cause Franny to argue with Lane on how she hates people that are phoniness and just wants to fade into the background and be a nobody. Throughout the story Franny 's comments on how a person has to act a certain way because of the social standards that are set. She spends her time in the story abiding by the standers and commenting on them causing her to have an emotional breakdown. The Breakdown that she has connects to Shoshana Felman 's What Does a Woman Want? and Franny 's actions connect to Judith Butler 's Performative Acts and Gender Constitution: An Essay in Phenomenology and Feminist Theory.
Later on in the book Gatsby describes the incident of how Myrtle Wilson was killed to Nick. He said to him, “You see, when we left New York she was very nervous and she thought it would steady her to drive-and this woman rushed out at us just as we were passing a car coming the other way...Well, first Daisy turned away from the woman toward the other car, and then she lost her nerve and turned back” (pg 143). From the view of readers they do not want to blame Daisy for what happened; they all find her to be a pure and innocent person who would not kill someone. The readers’ intent is to blame Gatsby because he was in the car with Daisy at the time of the accident even though he was not the one that killed
Luckily enough none of us were hurt and that surprised me. Seeing the car all smashed up and burnt really scared me, but it was nothing compared to the other car. I felt bad and I walked up to the little girl that was in the crash and we talked for a while, her name was Brianna and she was really nice. She was also scared about the whole thing, but me talking to her made her feel so much better and also it helped me calm down. I had to go back to my mom and dad because the police wanted to talk to us which scared me again, my heart started pounding really fast because I wasn’t good at talking to people I didn’t know.
In The Crucible Elizabeth Proctor happens to be one of the many people who gets thrown under the bus. Elizabeth Proctor is an innocent woman with good morals, her accuser (Abigail Williams) is unreliable, and she would have committed a crime by now. Goody Proctor is religious, faithful, and has a virtuous life. Her strong beliefs allow her to never go against the ways of society. As a Puritan woman, it is known to never speak unless spoken to, and the job of a female is to cook and clean.
I also with that people who are uneducated about what the gay community is remain similar to one of the characters being interviewed. This woman was completely under the influence of ignorance becoming a bliss to her. She didn’t hate the gay community, she was just neutral and confused. But she believed that everyone is equal and all lives matter in a sense. Overall Laramie Project is a short and easy to understand film.
