This week’s topic on the Jefferson hour is about literacy and my thoughts on this is that I believe less people are literature than there was during Thomas Jefferson time. Different forms of literacy help us discover information and events from the past. When we read documents, diaries, or such related writings we can see how much are writing styles and vocabulary change since then. I think it is important to keep an oral tradition because writings can be lost and oral stories are always retold and remember. Even though oral traditions may not be credible stories than it would be in a book, oral traditions help people come to together, show their originality and keep the tradition ongoing. With new technology and devices developing in this century I believe books and forms of writings are going to be less in usage therefore, more valuable in the future. In Thomas Jefferson time most slaves were not able to read and write. I think since white men were seen …show more content…
I believe a president should not give one group of race more rights or opportunities then he or she would another. He should had govern and educate everyone despite their circumstance or race. Literacy is important because the more Literate Americans there is there more of an influence they can have new generations and more they can give to society. My opinion is that schools especially during the high school years the teachers should not limit how literate their students should be on a level. More students need to be inform of more writing styles, higher vocabulary and more challenging books. This would help them develop into improved literate students and make it easier for them in college and other aspect in society. Now more people of all races and ethnicity have the opportunity and privilege to receive education and be literate Americans who can freely teach
This would really impact kids because it would be something held in their brain for a really long time, such as Family Life taught. It would also benefit the world, because knowing some people don’t get taught this at home, would make more sense if they obtained useful knowledge for later on

In the few years following the revolution Jefferson served as the governor to his home state of Virginia. During this time he began to write his book Notes on the State of Virginia which would be published several years later. Former member of the U.S. House of Representatives William Jefferson, while maybe not so known, was able to use his political power to gain for himself. He was a bribe taker during his terms in office making him a grafter. A grafter is someone who secretly takes money for political favors. These types of actions when discovered can get the person who has done them in many different kinds of trouble, including loss of job and even charges pressed. This crime by many is seen to be corruption, rightfully so, as things happen that might not have happened if money was not involved.
Cultural Influence Students who have a different background are a benefit to any classroom. They offer diversity and interesting perspectives. According to an article published on the Future of Working website, undocumented immigrants offer these benefits to any community (2015). Their influence would be greatly sought in a Spanish class taught in the U.S. Teachers can see these immigrants as resources and learn from these students.
Jefferson’s view on slaves that have their skin of the color black, in my point of view has different views. Mostly, Jefferson’s view of the slaves is the stereo typical white guy from back then. In the declaration of independence it states that all mankind are created equal, but owing slaves is where the idea of his declaration comes into question. According to him, slaves are not only black.
Thomas Jefferson’s works and ideas laid the foundation for several key aspects on the limits of the United States government, the idea of separation of church and state, and the importance of personal rights. Jefferson wrote many influential pieces of literature which pushed the concept of having limited government power. Jefferson wanted America not to be like the European monarchies that fell due to religious strife, so he emphasized a secular government. Jefferson, following closely with the ideas of John Locke, stressed the importance of the protection of individual rights against the government. Thomas Jefferson believed that a government should have limitations.
