The Comparison of Two Declarations Thomas Jefferson and Elizabeth Cady Stanton fought for what they believed; which was being free and equal from unjust rule or unjust laws. In the “Declaration of Independence” By Thomas Jefferson; Jefferson writes about his concerns about current Government ruled by the King of Great Britain in the United States and proceeds to list conflicts that many people face in the United States due to the King’s unjust treatment towards its citizens. In the end of the essay he persuades that the United States should separate from the rule of Great Britain. In another essay written like the “Declaration of Independence” comes the “Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions” by Elizabeth Cady Stanton, in Stanton’s essay she writes about issues that women face towards unjust laws. These laws were to prohibit and limit a women’s rights due to the fact they are married to their spouse; an example of these laws was “denied... the facilities for obtaining a through education” (149) to clarify this quotation women weren’t allowed to receive an education due to being married.

The vast power of the federal government has been on the rise, crippling the state’s authority. In the early 1800’s there have been cases where the Supreme Court has ruled, for the most part, in the federal government’s benefit. With the Legislative and Judicial Branches making up 2/3 of the federal government’s power, many could speculate the two powers are working to strengthen the federal government. The name of our hero is George Washington. He is our hero because he was the first to become president of the U.S.A, he was also a chief of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. George Washington was asked to be the general of the United states first army and he was asked to be the first President. George Washington is our hero because if he hadn’t won the war the United States most likely would have been punished for Rebelling and severely punished. We also might have lost all of our freedoms to Britain and had to pay even more taxes.
The War of 1812 was the first invasion in American history. It was also the first time the U.S had ever declared on another country, which was signed on June 18, 1812 by President James Madison. Though congress eventually voted on war, both the House and Senate were severely divided. Federalists opposed the war because they believed they used it to promote their expansionist agenda. There were multiple causes of the war, Britain’s restrictions of U.S trade by the Orders in Council, the British navy capturing American seamen and forcing them to serve on the behalf of the British, and America’s desire for expansion.

John Adams is a Federalist which is a person that believes that the government should be in control. In a letter from George Washington to Robert Orme, Washington “expressed an Inclination to serve the ensuing Campaigne as a Volunteer” referring to the topic, the French and Indian war, to be on America’s side of the conflict. This proved to be a wise choice considering Washington himself would become a main force in the later Revolutionary War and eventually become the first President of the United States, proving that Washington had indeed a certain hostility towards the opposing British. The power of judicial review came from the Supreme Court itself in a case called Marbury v Madison. Marbury v Madison is one of the most important cases in Supreme Court history because it gave the Supreme Court the power to void an act of Congress if it is inconsistent with the Constitution. Marbury v Madison was the first case to petition against what the branches can do and that is how judicial review was created. On February 28th, 1803, it was one of the last days John Adams was in office and he created a bunch of new judicial positions and appointed his allies to fill them. When Thomas Jefferson took office, his secretary of state, James Madison refused to give them the commissions to take the positions.
The United States Constitution was created to define the powers and limitations of the government. It replaced the Articles of the Confederation, and was ratified by all 13 states in 1787 (American Government, n.d.). The ratification of the Constitution was not without opposition, and the government was split into two groups: federalists, and anti-federalists. The federalist group believed that a national governing body, ruled by the elite class was necessary. Antifederalists, on the other hand, believed that state governments should have more say, and that the government should be run by ordinary people (American Government, n.d.).

Jefferson strongly believed that expansion into the west was the key to a strong nation, purchased Louisiana from the French government for 15 million dollars. Thomas Jefferson was the third president of the United States. He ran against John Adams twice. The first time, he came in second, making him vice president. He then ran against him in the election of 1800, which had turned into a battle of Federalist and Democratic Republicans. He had defeated Adams due to a flaw in the electrical system.
Woodrow Wilsons’ main objective was for World War 1 to be the “war to end all wars”, promoting peace, security, and unity throughout the international system, and overall creating a League of Nations. The fact that there was a WWII shows that Wilson’s ideas were somewhat ineffective; however, some of Wilsons points were successful and implemented after WWI. The first four points were ineffective because countries still make secret agreements amongst themselves and the European colonies were not allowed self-determination. Points 5-13 were actually successful because they restored national sovereignty to various places in Europe. The League of Nations was never strong and failed to prevent future wars (Italian invasion of Ethiopia or the Japanese
