Jeffrey Dahmer Research Paper

Jeffrey Dahmer, also known as the “Milwaukee Cannibal”, was born May 21, 1960. His strange behaviors began in his youth and continued through his adulthood. Dahmer murdered 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991.

When Dahmer was a young child, he would go out and search for dead animals, and then dissect them at home. He once put his dog’s head on a stake. When he was in high school he was an outcast because of his impersonations of his mother’s interior decorator. By the time of his graduation, Dahmer was an alcoholic.

His grandmother reported terrible smells from her basement, found a fully dressed male mannequin Dahmer stolen from a store, and found a .357 magnum under his bed. In 1988, his grandmother forced him to move out because of his strange behaviors. He then moved into an apartment that would become infamous for his killings – apartment 213 94 North 25th Street. It was here he was arrested for drugging and sexually fondling a 13-year-old.

Dahmer committed his first murder in the summer 1978, at the age of 18. Both of his parents of were out of town. Dahmer found a hitchhiker named Stephen Hicks, with whom Dahmer offered to have a beer back at his father’s house. He had planned to have sex with Hicks. When Hicks tried to leave, Dahmer bludgeoned him to death with a ten-pound dumbbell. Dahmer said he killed Hicks because he didn’t want him to leave. Dahmer buried him in his backyard. It was none years until Dahmer would murder again in September of 1987.

In September of 1998, he killed 26-year-old, Steven Tunomi, on impulse. Dahmer said he had no memory of the killing. He killed two more people. Dahmer thought he could turn his victims into zombies and tried to have youthfully eternally sexual partners. He did this by drilling a hole in their skull and poured hydrophloric acid and boiling water into the frontal lobe of the skull.

On July 1991, Dahmer lured Tracy Edwards into his house and according to Edwards; Dahmer struggled with Edwards to handcuff him but failed to do so. Dahmer then forced him into his bedroom wielding a larger butcher knife; Edwards saw the pictures of mangled bodies and a barrel full of dissolved human bodies. Edwards eventually escaped Dahmer and led the police to Dahmer’s apartment where the pictures of the mangled bodies and several severed body parts were found in the refrigerator.

On January 30th 1992, Dahmer pled not guilty by reason of insanity. Dahmer was found sane and guilty of 15 counts of murder and sentenced to 15 life terms, which totaled 957 years in prison. Dahmer was attacked twice while in prison the first attack being in July 1994, where an inmate attempted to slash his throat with a razor blade.
