(Jenkins, 2023). Dahmer’s parents, Lionel and Joyce, and his brother David Dahmer lived in Wisconsin until they moved to Ohio in 1968. His parents had a troubled marriage. According to Lionel, “Joyce was far from an ideal mother. She was on prescription drugs while pregnant with Jeffrey, and was mentally unstable after she gave birth to him” (Giacomazzo, 2021). Lionel would take his son (Dahmer) into the garage and dissect roadkill, and for the first time Lionel saw Dahmer show interest in something again (Murphy, 2022). Lionel and Joyce fought over the roadkill, the prescriptions, and how Lionel was never home to take care of his sons. Dahmer’s parents ended up getting divorced in 1978, and he ended up moving back to Wisconsin with his mother. As a child, Dahmer was described as quiet, solitary, and shy. He had very little to no friends and was often bullied in school, he started having sexual thoughts of men but kept it quiet from family/public. He started showing no interest in anything and started drinking for entertainment at age thirteen. He kept drinking throughout high school but that did not stop him from graduating in 1978, at eighteen years old(Jeffrey Dahmer | Crime Library | Serial Killers, n.d.). Three weeks later Dahmer killed Steven Hicks and It would be nine years before he killed again (Jenkins, 2023). His alcoholism was a big part of his life, Dahmer attended college that fall but …show more content…
He tried all sorts of techniques, such as drilling holes into their skull and injecting hydrochloric acid or boiling water into their brains. A couple of weeks into this his neighbors started complaining about the smells and weird noises coming from his room. One neighbor named Glenda Clevland had a big role in Dahmer’s story. One night 14-year-old Konerak Sinthasomphone escaped from Dahmer’s apartment naked and barely able to walk/talk. Glenda’s niece called the police and tried to get him to help, but Dahmer showed up and said that Sinthasomphone was his boyfriend. The police believed him and let Sinthasomphone die. If they would’ve done a background check they would’ve seen that Dahmer was on probation for sexually assaulting Sinthasomphone's brother in 1988. Glenda day after day called the police trying to find out what they did about the incident, along with complaining of the noises/smells coming from Dahmer’s apartment. The Police didn’t do anything about it and later were “hated” for letting a 14-year-old be brutally killed. (Murphy, 2022), (FBI Records: The Vault — Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer Part 01 of 19,
The skulls of Beeks and Miller were recovered in Dahmer’s apartment when he was arrested. 1991 was the fall of Dahmer, however, it was also the most deadly year. On March 7, he picked up Curtis Straughter, age 18, at a bus stop and offered him money to go home with him. This is the first time that Jeffrey switch up the routine of his murder. This time, he drugged Slaughter prior to having sex and killing him.
Tourmi was reported missing. 14 year old James Doxtator was the next unlucky victim of Dahmer. He met him at a club and asked him to follow him back to his grandmother’s to earn some money posing nude and drinking with him. He agreed and the two fondled, got drunk, and Doxtator passed out. Dahmer had put sleeping pills in his drink and then once passed out, had strangled the young boy.
14-year-old Konerak Sinthasomphone was found drugged and fully naked in the street by two 17-year-old girls. They called the police in a panic. When they ended the call, Dahmer ran up to them and told them Konerak was his 19-year-old boyfriend, who had been drinking. They did not believe him. When the police showed up, they bought Dahmer's story and handed Konerak over to him.

When Dahmer was younger his parents think a double hernia surgery changed him. Before the surgery his parents described him as “happy and energetic.” After they said he was never that same happy child.
After picking up hitchhiker Steven Hicks, Dahmer lured the youth into his home and bludgeoned him with a dumbell (Mendoza 1). Unfortunately, this killing was the first of many. After a brief stint moving to San Antonio, Jeff was forced to move in to his grandmother’s house back in Milwaukee where the murders continued. Dahmer had developed a masterful technique for murder, where he would pick up a partner at local gay bars, bring them back to his grandmother’s apartment, and then proceed to assault and murder his victims, often in sexually perverse ways. One of the survivors of these attacks, recalls that he saw a mattress stained with dried blood and a knife with a blue plastic handle, which immediately let him know that something was wrong (Mathews and Stevens, 44).
”(1) He tried drilling holes and injecting hydrochloric acid or boiling water in their skulls. Dahmer wasn’t always so lucky with his victims though. 14 year old Konerak Sinthasomphone was discovered just wandering the streets drugged and confused. Two women called the cops but Dahmer
He picked up a hitchhiker and brought him back to his parents home. He then proceeded to get this man drunk and when he wanted to leave, Dahmer didn’t let him. He struck him in the head and strangled him. Shortly after, he dismembered the body and packed the parts into plastic bags. He buried the parts behind the home and later dug them up, crushed the bones then scattered them across a wooded ravine.
His trial began in January of 1992. When the trial started, Dahmer had an eight-foot bulletproof glass barrier that separated him from the entire gallery. He initially tried to plead “not guilty to the charges, but then tried to plead for insanity; though the jury decided to believe the prosecutor's claim that Dahmer was sane and completely aware of his actions and even chose to commit them. The jury found Dahmer to be guilty, but sane on all charges; he was sentenced to 15 life terms in prison for a total of 957 years. Dahmer later died in prison while doing a task with two other prisoners, one of which was Christopher Scarver, who had been diagnosed for schizophrenia and had been serving his time for murder; when the guards returned to find that Scarver crushed Dahmer’s skull and fatally assaulted the other prisoner with a metal bar taken from the weight
During the time Jeffery’s parents left him living alone, Jefferey was overcome with a sense of loneliness. Dahmer picked up Steven hicks, a hitchhiker, and took him back to the Dahmer’s house for a beer. Once Hicks expressed his desire to leave, Dahmer struck him in the back of the head with a 10 lb. dumbbell. After the murder, Dahmer dissected Hicks and scattered his remains in the backyard.
“He ate the body parts of people because they would come alive in him….[Dahmer] experimented with different types of kitchen seasonings to make the cooked human flesh taste better”(blue 98). His plea of insanity did not work because, on February 15, 1992, the jury found him guilty and sane. He then received fifteen life sentences with a sixteenth added in May(pink

Dahmer murder represents the total number of people who he killed, leaving a devastating impact on the victim's families for the rest of their lives (Thomas 17). From Dahmer's first crime in 1978 to his last attempted victim Tracy Edwards in 1991 his killing streak was gruesome and lasted for years. According to the article The Romance of Revenge: An Alternate History of Jeffreys Dahmer Trial. On January 13, 1992, Dahmer pled guilty to all fifteen counts of murder by insanity. If Dahmer was proven insane while committing these crimes his punishment would not have been as severe (Gross).
One day in May, Sandra Smith a neighbor of Dahmers saw a young Laotian boy running down the street in his underwear bleeding and incoherent. Smith called the police and reported the incident. Dahmer who had chased the 14-year-old victim up the street was there when the police pulled up and he explained that the “man” was his boyfriend who was obviously drunk and upset with him but it had just been a silly quarrel. Despite the fact that this very young, naked, drunk, incoherent boy was running away from Dahmers apartment and despite the protests from Sandra Smith and her daughter who told the police, they felt the boy was afraid especially of Dahmer, the police helped Dahmer escort and the boy back to his
