Levana Zamora was born in Guerrero, Mexico. When she was 3 years old her family relocated to the small town of Nacogdoches, Texas to be closer to the Banderas family after a sudden tragedy. She is the only daughter of Ramone & Carmen Zamora. Growing up Levana was always a very courageous,sassy,outspoken,loyal & Loving young girl. Levana has always been incredibly close with her younger cousin Briella Banderas.

Spoke to Vivian Ortiz (DOB 6/20/75) who stated that her juvenile son (16 years old), Elijah Perez (DOB 7/3/99), was being destructive and threw things around the house when she asked him to turn off the oven after he used it. Ortiz stated Perez had been diagnosed with intermittent explosive disorder and he had not been taking his medication or to his therapy. Ortiz also mentioned that she opened the case with DYFS to evaluate him and the case was still opened. Ortiz stated that Perez threw some baseball cards, laundry bin, trashes and made mess inside of the refrigerator. We weren’t able to speak with Perez as he walked out of the house prior to our arrival.
Alina Diaz-Hernandez passed peacefully at home on Thursday, November 4, 2103 in Providence, R.I. at the age of 100. Alina is survived by her spouse, Francisca J. Hernandez Ruiz, her best friend, Elhaisha Tatis, her brother, Elias Diaz, her children and grandchildren, Rosalinda Bella Hernandez Rodriguez, Mariela Angelee Hernandez Mendez, and Jose Antonio Hernandez Mendez. She is preceded in death by her mom ,Leonor Anginette Contreras Guillen, her father, Elvis Diaz, her step father, Jeury Tavares , and her brother Derek Diaz and step brother Deury Tavares. Today I interviewed my Tia Maria, she is my mothers aunt who is 89 years old. Maria lives in old San Juan Puerto Rico with her daughter Suky. She has lived on the island all of her life. I had the privilege to interview her and learn some great facts about her life and listen to a couple of great stories about her good old days on the shorelines of Puerto Rico. I was pretty impressed on how they lived and how much they depended on the land for substance and gain.

On March 31, 1995, 20-year-old spanish popstar, Selena Quintanilla was shot and killed at a Days Inn near Corpus Cristi, Texas. Yolanda Saldivar was found guilty for the murder of Selena on October 23, 1995. Yolanda was selenas fan club and boutique manager, over the course of selenas career, they became best friends. Yolanda claimed that she was not guilty, stating that she was not meaning to kill her best friend, but that she was using the weapon as a threat to get selena not to leave her.
Gloria E. Anzaldua was an influential voice during the Third Wave of Feminism, she was responsible for making Feminism a more inclusive movement towards Women of Color. Anzaldua was born in South Texas to a traditional Mexican-American household complete with 3 other siblings. The families main source of income came from the field work they did, many times Anzaldua would find herself returning to the fields during financial hardship. During her childhood she was marked by a hormonal disorder that triggered premature puberty, as well as being ostracized by her teachers for speaking Spanish. Despite all her hardships, she worked hard and even graduate as the Valedictorian for her class.
In the Grapes of Wrath, two women appear in the beginning of the novel and was continuously having an active part of the story. As the story progresses, it has shown that the men slowly start to lose hope while strong women appear. Ma Joad and Rose of Sharon being to show a more dependable side to them to help keep the family together. Ma Joad was portrayed as the strong wife and mother she was in the Joad family. She valued the family more than she did herself, and because of this helped keep the family stable and together.
Betsy Ross’s Legacy: The Emblem of America Elizabeth Griscom (later known as Betsy Ross) crossed the Delaware River to New Jersey to elope with John Ross. Since she was a Quaker, and John an Episcopalian, her parents wouldn’t allow her to marry him, for fear of rejection by the Quaker community. Her parents were right - the Quakers disowned her after she got married, but her family were able to remain members of the church. After crossing the river and getting married in New Jersey, she lost all communication with her family. Sadly, just two years after their marriage, John died in an explosion at a munitions depot that he was guarding during the American Revolution.
