The case for Unit 2 presented multiple team dynamics that ultimately lead to an undesirable outcome following the heart and lung transplant surgery of 17-year old Jesica Santillon. In this case, it was made aware that Jesica had been smuggled illegally into the United States by her family in search of a treatment for her heart and lung disorder. Through the efforts of a charity started by a family friend, Jesica was able to receive a transplant of both her heart and lungs at Duke University.
