A job in the business industry that I love is one goal after college. With a stable job, I will be able to provide my parents any of their needs. The career I want to pursue is in business management and marketing. My marketing class at the Lapeer Education and Technology Center has given me the passion for business. The skills acquired throughout two years in that class has gotten me an offering for a job as a secretary after I graduate high school.
Being a Middle School Leader would be an exciting job for next year as I would get to represent our year level and middle school with respect and dignity. I want to become a middle school leader as I want to use it as a stepping stone for more important leader jobs in the future such as school captain or even working as a leader in my career beyond school. In addition I have been class captain and I’m the one of the leaders in my basketball team. Furthermore I want to work with the other leaders that get selected and create a positive middle school which each and every student would look forward to coming each
“The ultimate reason for setting goals is to entice you to become the person it takes to achieve them.”(Jim Rohn). It is important to have goals because it can focus my acquisition of knowledge, and helps you to organize your time and resources to make the most of your life. Some examples include getting a job, having a family, being a successful business person, becoming famous, etc. It is also important to have goals because it can motivate you and keep you active. One important goal for me is to go to college so I can have a good education, become more social, and find something I want to do when I grow up.
I wanted to be more confident and just be myself, not caring so much about what other people thought of me. About a couple weeks prior to the start of the school year, I received an email about the COB Mentoring Program. It was at that moment I knew this would be my opportunity to set out on a journey to achieving my personal goals. Not only did I believe that the program would help me meet new people, but I knew that it could help me be more of that confident, charismatic person I wanted to become. Because of the COB Mentoring Program I've met so many amazing people that I know I'll stay in touch with even after my college years.
Another goal I have is to be a great leader/ role model for not only my family, underclassmen, but my community. Being a leader now will help me show my family, underclassmen, and community that I work hard and that things don’t come easy. I am always willing to help out and make a difference in my community. Having set goals makes me want to work harder, and also making me realize the road will be hard. But with the work ethics I have that I’ve learned throughout high school, and will continue to learn in college will help me accomplish these much easier.
At Edelman Digital, I volunteered as a mentor with the Junior Achievement of New York (JANY) and the Manhattan Business Academy. As mentors, we assisted students as they took part in the Manhattan Business Academy’s annual Business Plan competition. It was an extremely satisfying experience as I am aware this program helps to support our community by making a difference in the lives of many underprivileged students. In addition to being a JANY mentor, I also serve as a mentor for the 4A 's Project Act Mentorship program providing individualized mentorship to a student who attends the High School for Innovation in Advertising and Media. As a mentor, I share information and insights on the digital media landscape and help to develop the competencies needed to pursue a career in the advertising and media

Introduction When I first saw the syllabus of this class, I was looking forward to doing the service learning project as I have only been to only one in the past. I believe that service learning is important as part of a quality college education because I believe that people learn best through experiences. Also, service learning is important as part of a quality college education because, during the service, there will be numerous opportunities for students to learn new things. I believe that my personality and skill set lends itself to a career in advertising and communications, but, what I really want to do is help others in getting the opportunities that they need to change their lives and the lives of others. In order to do all of these things, I hope to first work my way through my undergraduate degree and then move directly into a graduate program. The Honors College is essential in my journey through higher education because it will provide for me the supportive space that I need to be able to continue to grow and implement my longterm goals. During my time at Appalachian I am most interested in making connections globally and locally with people who are as passionate about giving back to the world and learning as I myself am. Additionally,I feel that the rigorous program offered by The Honors College will help me to grow into the student that I will need to be in order to excel not only professionally, but also in a graduate
