Jimmy Butler Jimmy Butler is considered one of the best 2-way shooting guards in the NBA, but the odds of him getting in the NBA were always against him. Butler's life was always quite rough, and he struggled throughout his childhood. With a rough childhood and going to a junior college the chances of going to the NBA were a far reach for the young Butler. Jimmy Butler was born on September 14, 1989. When Butler was an infant, his dad Jimmy left him. Growing up without a father can be hard for some people especially for a child like Jimmy. When Butler was thirteen, he got kicked out of the house by his mom. Butler told ESPN that she kicked him out because she didn’t like the look of him. In 2011 Butler cancelled his television and internet so he could focus more on basketball and less on the unimportant things. In the 2011 draft the Chicago Bulls selected Jimmy Butler with the 30th overall pick in the first round. In his first year he didn’t get much playing time and only averaged about 3 points a game. In his second year on the bulls, his teammate Luol Deng suffered an injury giving Butler more playing time. His average went up to 8.6 points a game. In his 2013-2014 seasons Jimmy Butler set a Bulls franchise record playing 60 minutes in a triple overtime victory over the Orlando Magic. His average went up to 13.1 points a game. In his 2014-2015 seasons he was playing an average of 40 minutes a game. On May, 7 Butler was named most improved player of the year which made him the first Bulls player to get that award.
