It was a cold November 16, 1934 and Everett Ruess was in a sticky situation. He was stuck in a snow igloo hastily made 6 days before his hands were poisoned by a rattlesnake’s bite. The rattlesnake that had bitten him had an owner, Frank Dandis, his greedy childhood friend who moved to Escalante, Utah five years before. Six days ago, they were the best of friends, but now they were bitter enemies stuck in an igloo because of a whirlwind snowstorm. Frank Dandis was a farmer who had always dreamed of being a roamer, one who explores nature’s natural beauty as a profession.

The buck was nowhere to be seen, but something else important was there.
Into the Wild introduces us to Chris McCandless, an intelligent young man from a wealthy family, who hiked into the Alaskan wilderness to his ultimate demise. When the story of this young man was published in Outsider, the magazine for which the author of this book wrote, many other similar stories to that of McCandless’s arose. In August of 2013, a young boy who had a fascination to the story of McCandless was found dead in the woods. His name was Johnathan Croom. While both the tragedies of McCandless and Croom had some major similarities, the two scenarios had completely different causes and their journeys were completely different from one another.

I had only heard stories of bountiful black bear hunts and I was finally able to experience one of my own and make an everlasting memory. Arriving to the cabin hours later, it was nearing mid afternoon. We had planned to go bait and scout the woods before dark.
Former US president, Jimmy Carter, gives us a taste of his own knowledge by keeping us intrigued to the story he tells on his thoughts about the wildlife. Carters purpose is to let people know that they need to have an open eye in what we do around us, we are ruining nature. He creates an appalled tone to make the reader intrigued in a topic we might not all care about. Carter begins to use imagery in his saying to give the reader more than just a read, he wants to make sure we capture all the goodness he has to tell. " Tundra before us became flooded with life with the sounds of grunting animals and clicking hooves filing the air."
