From baseball records to children’s hospitals Joe DiMaggio was one the greatest historical figures there ever was. Joe DiMaggio is a baseball phenome that has also helped not by just entertaining us, but also fighting as a soldier in World War One and building a children’s hospital. Joe was a tall and slender male who was born to baseball and he currently has multiple MLB records, awards, championships and is in the MLB Hall of Fame.

An impressive .398 batting average earned Joe a Yankee’s try-out in 1936 where he was billed as the next Babe Ruth. After his try-out he was purchased by the Yankee’s organization for $25,000. DiMaggio’s debut was delayed because of an injury, but was able to take the field for the first time on May 3, 1936 where he was welcomed to the team with 25,000 cheering Yankee fans. In his rookie season Joe led the led the league with a career-high 46 home runs. Even with the depth of the fence at Yankee Stadium, Joe hit 361 career home runs, placing him fifth on the Major League all-time home run list when he retired in 1951. In 1937 he batted an impressive .346 driving in 167 home runs. In 1939 he batted an average of .381, and in the same year he won his first ever batting championship and was awarded with the League’s Most Valuable Player award. He spent his first year of retirement working as a broadcaster for the Yankee’s, and he later went to work with many companies and he later went on to work with many companies and charitable foundations. Joe DiMaggio reentered the public consciousness in 1952 when he met and married Marilyn Monroe on January 14,1954. After they married they were constantly fighting and divorced after 9 short months. Later Marilyn Monroe died in 1962 and Joe arranged everything for the funeral. On March 8,1999 Joe DiMaggio died after a tough battle with cancer.
