White is still ideal, from personal experience, some private schools in Washington D.C have a minority cap to only allow an exact number of students of color. The schools where more students of color were allowed had funding issues, thus making it difficult to have the latest tools and labs to teach in.

During the civil rights era African Americans fought to be treated as equals by fighting segregated schools, for their voting rights, and for their basic right that every American has today. To say that education is our civil rights movement of today is inaccurate. Antonio Alvarez’s narrative “Out Of My Hands” focuses on a financially struggling family, but proving that they can succeed. David L. Kirp’s article “The Secret to Fixing Bad Schools” reinforces the idea that even though a community might be poor, that doesn’t have to reflect the quality of education students receive.

This movement opposed the notion of making government larger and handing over rights to blacks that were supposedly hard earned by other citizens (403). Richardson argues that while the government was obliged to provide blacks political equality, “social” equality needed to be earned; social equality was considered the standing an individual achieved through merit and hard work. Although blacks accepted this, those that had prospered to the “better classes” still found that discrimination was still wanton. To battle these discriminations, blacks called for protective legislation (418). This legislation came in the way of the Civil Rights Act of 1875.
According to David Goldberg 's “All Lives Matter” Disregards Race-Based Inequality," blacks in the United States aren’t supposed to completely belong. They are denied decent employment and education, being animalized, criminalized and killed daily. Goldberg makes a crucial point saying, “Black people have represented the country in the highest of ways while being maligned in the most malicious of ways.” He couldn’t be more right. Blacks are athletic, vocally talented, even superior enough to be president of the United States. Why do we, as whites, feel it is even okay to dehumanize or degrade blacks because of their skin color.
