John Edward Robinson was born on December 27, 1943 in Cicero, Illinois. He was the third of five children; his father was an alcoholic and he had a disciplinary mother. His childhood was relatively normal, when he was fourteen he became an Eagle Scout. In 1957, he was enrolled in an all-boys private school for aspiring priests at Quigley Preparatory Seminary in Chicago. After a one year he was forced to drop out due to disciplinary issues such as getting into fighting matches with his fellow classmates. He continued with his education not as an aspiring priest, but as an x-ray technician, only to drop out again after two years of school in 1967. But he violated his probation the next year by moving back Chicago without permission from his probation officer. While in Chicago he was working as an insurance salesman. In 1971, he was arrested for embezzlement and was sent back to Kansas City where his probation was extended for the second crime. But in 1975 his probation was extended once more due to new charges involving security and mail fraud this was linked to a forged medical consulting company he created. Robinson finished probation in 1979 but the next year he was arrested once again. He was arrested for embezzlement and check forgery, for this he spent sixty days in jail in the year of 1982. He later formed another fake company and talked his friend into investing 25,000 dollars into his fake company. He also joined a secret sadomasochism cult called the International Council of Masters during his time there he was the cults Slavemaster. He began by creating two more fake companies, Equi-Plus and Equi-2. He hired nineteen-year-old Paula Godfrey as a sales representative for his company. He was able to lure his potential victim away from her family by telling her she was going out of state for training. When Godfrey failed to contact her parents, they filed a missing person's report. By the time her parents filed the report a few weeks had already passed. Paula was his first victim; her body was never discovered. He continued to lure women in with the offer of jobs, extensive travel opportunities, and a new wardrobe. But, in 1987 the scams ended due to being convicted of fraud and sentenced to serve six years in at Western Missouri Correctional Facility. He was released in 1993. But immediately returned to his old ways. Robinson's first victim after being released was the Liberian at Western Missouri Correctional Facility.
