Can you name the youngest man to be elected President of the United States? The correct answer is John F. Kennedy, who served as the 35th President from 1961 to1963. He was 43 years old when he was elected to office, therefore making him “the youngest man elected to the office” (John F. Kennedy.). He was also the youngest President to die while in office; he died on November 22, 1963. John F. Kennedy also referred to as, JFK, was assassinated in Dallas, Texas by an assassin’s bullets. Unfortunately, John F. Kennedy died at the young age of 46. In fact, he was the first Roman Catholic president of all time, which during the election as a controversial issue. Something that Kennedy is known for is that he advised and encouraged Americans to contribute in public service. On January 20, 1961, in his Inaugural Address, JFK told the American public, "Ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country” (JFK's Top 5 Political Accomplishments). This is one of his many accomplishments and this one made citizens want to help the United States by doing anything in their power. Another of JFK’s goals was to send “an American safely to the Moon before the end of the decade” (Garber). Although he was not able to achieve his goal while in office, the goal was later was achieved in July of 1969. John F. Kennedy, also known as JFK, is perhaps the most-loved president in American history. Our 35th President of the United States served from January 1961 until his assassination in November 1963. Although he was young and did not get to serve his full term he accomplished many great things. All these documents embody the beginning of an admirable presidency and the commencement of a new hope for a nation gone forlorn. Kennedy served at the pinnacle of the Cold War and spent a large fragment of his presidency focusing on managing relations with the Soviet Union.
In January 1961, a young, good looking, confident, charismatic, and democratic was elected. His name being John Fitzgerald Kennedy, became the 35th president. Kennedy was a symbol of hope for most Americans, and many citizens looked up to him. In fact, Kennedy used a lot of television so everyone knew his face well. His wife Jacqueline invited artist and celebrities into the White House.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy was a complex boy from a wealthy family, who refused to conform to expectations. This desire to stay true to himself and push the limits helped him break boundaries throughout his short life. The second born son of Joseph Patrick Kennedy accomplished much throughout his life. Among his list of achievements is a Pulitzer Prize for his book Profiles in Courage (Schlesinger and Marcovitz). However, perhaps his most notable accomplishment was becoming the youngest man, and first Roman Catholic, to ever be elected to the U.S. Presidency (“Life of John F. Kennedy”).
His siblings were raised to both physically and academically super competitive versus the average youth of the day. JFK’s father was a very wealthy and controversial politician as his large fortune had come from both legal investments and illegal bootlegging. While his father served as an ambassador to England, JFK served as his father’s political and personal secretary where he learned an incredible amount of diplomacy and statesmanship. JFK graduated from Harvard before WW II and joined the Navy as a PT boat commander in the South Pacific where in 1943,
John Fitzgerald Kennedy was one of the most influential presidents of the modern era. Despite his short presidency, he presided over an eventful period of US history. During his presidency, he had to deal with the Bay of Pigs Invasion, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Vietnam War on the international front. On the domestic front, he had to deal with the Civil Rights Movement. The Civil Rights Movement was a very difficult situation for Kennedy.

His life, and the lessons he taught his nation to love, continue to enthuse the citizens of the United States of America, and because of this he is one of the most celebrated presidents in the country’s history. JFK was the youngest president of the U.S. during the time of his inauguration. He is also the first ever Roman Catholic president to take office. He was named after his maternal grandfather, John Francis “Honey Fitz” Fitzgerald, a former mayor of Boston (“Life of John F. Kennedy, n.d.). Kennedy was the second of nine children born to Joseph and Rose Kennedy. His parents came from two of the most illustrious Irish-Catholic political groups in Boston at the time. Although privileged, Kennedy was always very sick when he was young.
His Early Years John F. Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917 into a wealthy and Catholic family of Irish decent. His family lived in Boston Massachusetts and he was the second oldest in a family of nine siblings. During his childhood John or also nicknamed Jack was like any other boy. He enjoyed English and History during school but besides that he liked what any other boy would like. Start to his career John F. Kennedy joined the Navy in 1941 and in 1943 he was sent to the South Pacific.
When he got into office he experienced many failures. For example, The Bay of Pigs. The Bay of Pigs was an invasion of Cuba and was failed by the military in 1961. Kennedy also failed to pass the Civil Rights Act. As well as he failed to get the Welfare programs passed.
Kennedy was one of the most popular presidents in all time. His family grew famous around the United States. President John F. Kennedy had died on November 22, 1963. John was going to his next speaking arrangement in Dallas. As he was cruising through downtown Dallas, shots were fired.

Kennedy was only in office for 1000 days. He was assassinated on November 11, 1960 in South Dallas. The only man who said they saw the person kill the former president came from Midlothian, Texas.
