I view being an area officer the same way as being an officer in a massive local FFA chapter. By being an officer in essentially a larger chapter, there are various skills I can learn to help with leadership in my chapter. Communication between chapter officers is crucial to the success of a chapter, and I believe that by being an area officer, I can learn communication, leadership, responsibility, and several other skills or traits that I can also apply to my role as a chapter officer. In conclusion, there are three basic reasons why I want to be an Area 15 officer. The first and most important reason is the learning experience that being an area officer would provide.
What makes a leader? I believe a leader to be intelligent ,tough, and has the determination to achieve a goal. Having certain skills will have an impact on you being a trustable leader. Being selfless and caring are also characteristics. Malcolm X his birth name Malcolm Little is a fine a example of a leader and has most of these leadership qualities.
Leadership Qualities of President Lincoln Abraham Lincoln is an example of an excellent leader of our country. He possess many leadership qualities such as honesty, courage, compassion, and loyalty. These leadership qualities are important for every president to have so that they can be successful leaders. A Leader should be honest because, if they’re honest with people, people will be more likely to trust them to make the decisions that are right for our country. A leader needs to be courageous because they need to make difficult decisions and they need the courage to do this even when it may upset people.
The term "Servant Leadership" is often affiliated to Robert K. Greenleaf, who first coined it in 1970 in his book, Servant Leadership. This model of leadership has gained much popularity today with prominent business experts such as Stephen Covey and Peter Drucker having already embraced its principles. Greenleaf's servant leadership ideas apply to some organizations whether for business, profit or charitable agencies. The main elements behind servant leadership originate from the love of others and the unselfish desire of servant leaders (Daft, & Lane, 2005). According to the servant leadership theory, a leader must put the needs and interests of others above their needs.
The Great Man approach is a perspective that identifies inherited traits that leader possess. These traits are optimism, Self-confidence, honesty, integrity and drive. All the traits are critical for successful leaders, and evidenced in the Apollo 13 and Annapurna case. However, it is paramount that the leaders have relevant, mission specific knowledge as well. If Eugene Kranz did not have an expansive knowledge of his team, technical skills and flight director experience, the mission could have failed.
The Meaning of Being a Leader Being a leader is more than making people follow you. A leader is someone who knows how to manage and help others do the right thing. In The Odyssey, it’s characters portrayed many traits that show great leadership skills. Such as perseverance and confidence can make a good and strong leader. So in The Odyssey, Odysseus shows much perseverance toward his goal of going back home to Ithaca.
Both of these leader sacrificed stuff in order to fight for the rights they believed in.The Nelson Mandela text was more persuasive because the text had more information in the text about what he did right, and what he sacrificed. Ghandi was very kind and he showed it in many ways. His close read said how he fought for people who were oppressed. He took great honor in doing this. It says how we should praise him.
Good leaders possess numerous defining characteristics that differentiate them from their peers and bring out their influence over others. One such trait is the ability to lead by example. The great leaders of the world have all revolved around this fundamental principle, leading not just by speaking but by acting and demonstrating for a unifying cause. While eloquent speaking has been a strong tool for these great figures, the ability to show, interact, and exemplify the root cause of their campaign is what has propelled them in to glory. Some shining examples of this trait can be found in Martin Luther King Jr., Mohandas Gandhi, and Abraham Lincoln.
Teamwork and Leadership Essay: Historical Figure-Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther King Jr. was an important figure in history who developed and used his leadership for something positive. He had leadership, or the skill to encourage people to work together, which he used to lead a civil rights movement. His admirable quality led to many successes. Similarly, the ideal characteristics of Anglo-Saxon society are present throughout the epic of Beowulf. Beowulf himself demonstrates how the Anglo-Saxons found traits like strength, courage, faith, and gratitude to be so important (“Character Analysis” 9). Be that as it may, epics tend to also give insight into various aspects of different structures present throughout these societies as well. In Beowulf, the idea that people followed and served a leader who protected them in return, a key concept present throughout Anglo-Saxon society, is seen when Beowulf defends Herot and is named “The mighty protector of men...” (Beers 23). Another example of societal structures or beliefs being present in epics was seen by the importance of kleos, a Greek term used in reference to glory or renown, in the Iliad.
But in contribution to that, it was influential people, mostly being my father, that made impacts on myself; in which, created my identity. To begin, my father has been a major contributing factor towards the person I am today. The first way he influenced my identity was my characteristics as a person. These influences were easily given by me looking up to him as my hero. Moreover, him being my idol made me want to be like him; therefore, his own characteristics and
During the course of the book, Benjamin can be described as a man whose work ethic is driven to help things around him become better. Also, he was a major leader in this book and always wanted to help others and when he was called to lead the military he did. Benjamin Franklin has played in multiple roles that helped make the world as it is today. I see Benjamin Franklin as a role model to anyone and everyone that wants to lead and work their hardest to make a difference in this world one day and also a role model to those who want to always put the world and others before them. Benjamin Franklin is a great man and a very important founding father of the
One extraordinary individual by the name of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. significantly factored into the shaping of the nation we exist in today. Through his empowering ideas in which he spoke out for, he was a major figure in the Civil Rights Movement and stood for values including equality and unity. Dr. King expressed his desire for a world in which the people would come together and work as a whole, but what exactly are you and I contributing to keep his legacy alive? When observing others, do we view them as roadblocks and competition in the way of our personal achievements, or do we recognize them as allies despite our differences? The latter resembles what Dr. King believed.
he motivated those around him to do their best. Abraham Lincoln was also a Great leader. He helped inspire a Nation to overcome
