In 1977 when Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope was released it sparked his career and led him on the path to become a cult star. Mark Hamill starred as Luke Skywalker probably one of the most iconic roles in film history and after that he never escaped the role. Even though he has appeared in a lot of movies/TV shows before and after the release of Star Wars he is still known as Luke Skywalker. His co-star Harrison Ford was stuck with the same fate as being known as Han Solo at the time but he moved on and started doing film like Blade Runner the Indiana Jones franchise. This then rid him of being known as Han Solo as he made more films where he played many different characters this meant that audiences couldn’t pin him to one role it broke the classification of naming him a character thus giving him a identity.

I feel that the speech that you chose was very unique. Robin Williams was such an amazing person and he truly connects with the audience every single time he speaks. I agree on how important it is for a speaker to maintain eye contact at all times to demonstrate respect and that he put effort at learning the words and at the same time being extemporaneous. Confidence is also a very important factor and Williams showed it throughout the whole speech. You did a wonderful job, just remember to include the main points and how he managed to pass from one point to another.

The controlling nature of John Proctor towards those who work for him also reinforces the statement made by Vowell. Although Proctor is considered to be a good man, he reveals a tendency to be controlling towards his servants. When Mary Warren comes running towards the Proctors’ home after attending the trial, John Proctor tries to force her to testify against Abigail Williams in court. He says, “You will tell the court how that poppet come here and who stuck the needle in” (Miller, Act 2). Proctor is very menacing as he delivers his dialogue.

Tragedies can be defined as an event causing great suffering, destruction, and distress, such as a serious accident, crime, or natural catastrophe. With tragedies come tragic heroes, who are seen as people who overcome great tragedies. Aristotle’s classification of a tragic hero says that one must be of certain stature to fit the qualification. It is debatable whether one can be a tragic hero because of his rank in the world. To Arthur Miller,the author of The Crucible, rank did not matter, it was more of their role in society and the effect they had on people around them.
